Chapter 1:

December 2015

I've never been so lonely in my life.

Gosh.

I was finally back home but bored because all of my friends were either at college earning degrees or out of the country because they're promoting their album and touring.

I spent some time in southern California because I was able to rent out a recording booth so I could professionally record, instead of singing into a microphone that was connected to my Mac and editing it.

I'm still here, making YouTube covers once a week.

You're right, I should be in college. I should've sent in some kind of application. But trust me, I know music is the only thing for me. Even if I haven't been discovered off YouTube like half of the artists now-a-days.

Again, I am very proud of Ella for making it. She deserves it, but what am I doing that pushes her up to the tops of Billboard charts and not me? I believed that we worked equally hard, and I'm not going to bask in her fame, either. I'm just not that type of person. Ella worked, now I guess I'll do the same.

My phone buzzes and I shuffle through my comforter on my bed.

Ella: Helloooo :)

Me: What.

Ella: Did I catch you in a bad mood?

Me: No, I'm just really bored.

Ella: Aw, do you miss me?

Me: No. I miss my other best friend, Calvin

Ella: Ooooh Calum huh

Ella: And I knew you missed him ;)

Me: quit winking at me through text

Ella: You love it though.

Me: Quit being weird

Ella: You're right that was really weird

Me: There's nothing wrong with being weird though.

Ella: Of course not.

Me: I like how we switch topics so fast lol

Ella: True.

My phone starts to ring again while I start typing into the keyboard.

Calum Hood would like to FaceTime

I groan to myself and decline the call.

Me: Sorry, Calum wanted to FaceTime me.

Ella: Ohh... ;)

Me: ...

Again, he tries to FaceTime me again.
