Burned Away

In a small house in the forest lived two brothers. One had black hair of 8 years old, his little brother of 4 years with the same hair color.Their parents were strong wizards which had to participate in the war, to never come back again.

"Zeref-nii, when are daddy and mommy coming back ?" Zeref told him that they are just coming late, that they will come back to eat breakfast, and to celebrate the victory of the country, yet Zeref knew the cruel reality, because the army sent a letter, which said that their parents died in the war, fighting for their country, but fortunately the army gave them money to food and the medicaments that his little brother needed because he was sick.

"I don't know Natsu, maybe they will be comming back in the afternoon, but now you have to rest, so we can give them a big hug! But now who' s looking after you? ~" He's brother said the last line babyish like parents to their children.

Zeref was like a mother to Natsu, he was always taking care of him. He was his first priority. He was changing the towel which was on Natsu's forhead. Zeref went frequently to the Magic Academy, because wanted to be strong, he wanted to protect his brother, and live peaceful with him, his only family left.

"You! Zeref-nii-san!" Natsu said with a smile in his face, Zeref smiled too.

The older brother went to the kitchen and took the medicine and a wooden spoon and came back with Natsu.
"Natsu, here's your medicine, you need to drink it" Zeref said while pouring the medicine into the spoon. Natsu widened his eyes . "PLEASE ZEREF-NII NOT THE MEDICINE!" He yelled at him scared, he disliked the medicine. Natsu muffleded up with the blanket. Zeref smiled "If you want to be strong, you'll need to drink the medicine" Natsu removed the blanket. "If you say so..." Natsu opened his mouth and drank the medicine, slowly, he still disliked it. "Ajaum Yum Yum Yum~" Zeref said childish while making weird faces, just like parents do to his babies .

"Nii-san, making weird faces again" "No I'm not" Zeref said sarcastically, Their looks met, but suddenly they began to laugh.

"Zeref-nii, when can I go to the magic academy with you? I want to learn magic, so I can protect you!" Natsu said with a smile, it's been a long time since he went outside.

"When you feel better, you can go with me to the academy, and all the places that you want! But now, you have to stay here, I will come back later"

"See you later, Zeref-nii!" Zeref smiled at him and went to school.

~~Time-skip After School~~

When Zeref went outside he saw something that he wants to never see again.

The enemy attacked, the wooden was on fire, the screams of the people, all the panic, and the only thing that was on his mind was to save Natsu.

"Call the wizards! We need to put out the fire!"

"PLEASE! SAVE MY LITTLE BROTHER! HE IS IN THE FOREST, HE IS SICK, HE WOULDN'T ESCAPE!" Zeref said yelled at the wizards while crying, he was desesperate to save his brother, he don't wanted to loose his only family left.

~~Time-skip~~

The wizards put out the fire very quickly, despite all the trees and plants were burned by the fire.

Zeref ran fast as he could. He wanted to be sure that Natsu was fine, despite he knew the cruel truth,but he couldn't believe that, his brother was fine, right? He was a very strong child, after all, Zeref thought.

When Zeref arrived at the place were his house was, he saw a horrible scene. All the memories of his life were burned.
The house was burned, the living-room, the kitchen, The toys which him and his brother played with, the little red dragon plush which his father bought to Natsu, because he was a fan of dragons.

*FLASHBACK*

"Nii-san, Nii-san! What's a 'bragon'?"

"You mean a 'dragon'? They are the kings of the world, powerful criatures, they look like big lizard a with wings and they're very inteligent"

"WHOAH! And are they bad?"

"Some of them are good, like the one of the Fairy tale about dragon which saved the princess, Did I read It to you?"

"Never! But can you read It to me?" Natsu said with sparkled eyes

"Of course, Natsu, and one day you will have to protect your princess, like the dragon of the book"

* FLASHBACK ENDS*

When he entered the room where Natsu was, he began to cry when he saw the burned body of his little brother.

The only thing that he found and wasn't burned was a Picture of his family, where were his dad, The all mighty Takeshi Dragneel, his kind mother which loved so much her children, Aiko Dragneel She was carrying his brother, the most important to him, his little dork, reckless, friendly and loved brother, Natsu Dragneel.
