kari's pov

the two hours of detention were almost up. we had twelve minutes left and cara was running late.

you'd expect us all to be sitting up on the tables. listening to music or writing shit on the whiteboard, but we were all just sat in our seats. more spread out than usual, in complete silence.

exactly how a detention should be.

"we would probably all be doing something fun and rebellious right now if you guys just sucked it up and spoke to each other again". half of us threw our heads back in annoyance at ava's words, because she's been going on and on about this for the past thirty minutes.

"some of us actually want to speak to each other again, but others don't" nate added while he was continuously throwing and catching an eraser.

"well, you others need to grow the fuck up because we have three more of these detentions left, and we might as well make the most of them" ava reminded us.

i zoned out of her attempt to make everyone "friends" again and sat in silence, because i'm honestly not in the mood for any more arguments to arise or for more secrets to be revealed.

but me, sitting in silence, meant that i could hear jack and jack zoning out of ava's words too, and chuckling about stuff behind me.

"dude, i can't believe that you managed to get carrington jones. she's bad as fuck" gilinsky whispered to johnson.

"bro, i know. we've gotten so close throughout the week. apparently she's had this crush on me for so long, but was too scared to tell me or something" johnson whispered back.

"ah dude, at least this one is gonna be loyal" i heard jack g say, and i slouched further down in my seat.

my heart skipped a beat at the obvious reference to me, and i didn't know whether it was the fact that johnson didn't even jump in to say that i actually am loyal as fuck, or the fact that gilinsky thinks i'm some unloyal bitch.

"sorry that i'm late! i ran out of gas, then there was traffic..." cara suddenly said, as she came rushing through the door and breaking my reverie of thoughts.

she settled some papers and her bag on the desk, before suddenly and slowly turning to face us all. she examined our looks and seemed completely confused. "what's going on? why are you all so quiet today?".

we all exchanged vague looks, no one even seemed like they were about to answer her. "come on guys, it's me" she said and sat down on the desk chair. "let me in on the gossip".

"do you really think that we're going to tell a teacher about our personal lives?" gilinsky scoffed. "again?".

"guys, i'm barely even a teacher. for now, just see me as your friend" cara explained to us all, but no one still answered. "wait, this surely isn't still about the whole commotion between you two?" she asked, directing at chantelle and nate.

"no, we all recently found out that there isn't just one hoe in the squad" chantelle smirked and i furrowed my eyebrows at her statement - realising that she was indirecting me.

"who the hell are you calling a hoe, chantelle?" i quickly defended and i could feel the room turning more awkward by the minute.

"you obviously know since you're the one who answered" she shot back.

"it's a bit rich coming from someone who i could easily expose for all the-"

"ok! ok! girls, calm down" cara immediately interrupted as she rubbed her forehead gently. "these detentions were supposed to one, teach you a lesson for sneaking out of school and two, bring you closer and actually make these two hours count. but it just seems like it's made you all much more distant".

sammy suddenly groaned in annoyance at cara's talking. "hey, can we go now? it's friday and i'm tired" he complained and the rest of us grabbed our bags, eager to leave too.

cara sighed at our terrible attempt to listen to her. she looked at the clock and there was just a few minutes left, so she finally gestured towards the door. "fine, if you please, go ahead".

at our own paces, we left the room in a hurry and i walked out of the door to see carrington leaning against the wall.

johnson's face light up as soon as he saw her, and he brushed past me to embrace her in a hug. i watched as she gave him a kiss on the cheek, before they walked away together with his arm over her shoulder.

"it's like he's fucking doing this on purpose," i said and pulled my hands through my hair.

"well, he does have his reasons" chantelle mentioned, but i just glared at her because i really wasn't bothered to argue anymore.

"that's not even the only shit that johnson's been up to," ava sang and i gave her a questioning look.

"what do you mean?".

"ask meredith ok, because gilinsky and i have something to do" she rushed, then didn't hesitate to hurry away with him, leaving just meredith and i in the hallway.

"mere?" i questionably said and she sighed a little - sympathetically looking at me.

"i was in art class today, and i overheard carrington bragging about how her and johnson have already had sex" she explained.

i instantly felt my stomach drop. it's been three days since johnson and i last spoke, and the first thing he does is get into some other girl's pants.

but then again, he is an alexander boy. this type of stuff is expected from them and us girls, are expected to mope around and cry about how much we miss them to our friends.

"...it's fine," i assured her before she could begin to ask. "...in fact, i don't even care".

and i don't. i'm honestly tired of feeling like this, and it's about time i try and prove that salvatore girls and alexander boys actually aren't that different.

"hey, do you think that sammy's gone home yet?" i wondered and pulled my backpack further up my shoulder.

"uh, well he seemed like he was in a rush just before but he could still be around. why?".

"oh, it's nothing. i just want to talk to him about chemistry" i quickly lied, and was already making my way down the corridor to find him.

i mean, everyone's entitled to move on. everyone including me.
