Alice woke up with a sense of dysphoria washing over her, she would most likely never get used to beings in a completely different world. She had a lot of fear that yesterday was a fluke, and that all the people who accepted her then, would absolutely hate her now. Trying to get rid of negative thoughts, she got up from her bed, blacked out for a moment, and walked over to the first year girls' restroom. After getting ready for the day, she walked into the dormitory, woke up Hermione and went downstairs. Apparently she was the first one up, or at least the first one to the common room. Alice ran upstairs and grabbed her bag, which had a muggle book in it that she started to read.
After 10 minutes, it was about 5 minutes until 8:30, breakfast time. Alice saw two familiar gingers walking down the staircase. It was Fred and George. Before they noticed her, Alice took the time to point out differences between the two.
George was a little taller than his twin, but height was never a constant. George had a crooked nose. Fred's eyes were a little bluer than his twin's.
Alice knew that having these differences in her memory would definitely come in handy. A few seconds after, Fred and George had spotted Alice and started to walk over to her.
"Good morning, Alice," said Fred.
"Pleasure to meet your acquaintance," George spoke, bowing.
"We are truly honored to be in the presence of the Alice Barnes." They both were bowing.
"A good morning to you two, too," Alice giggled.
"Now are you ready to go to the Great Hall for breakfast now? I'm starving," Groaned Fred.
"Sure," Alice and George mumbled together. Great, now she was synchronizing her speech with the two.
"Wonderful." the three said, George was starting to walk out of the common room already.
"Now, let's show you the great hall when it's not a special occasion." Fred said, guiding her, with his hands on her shoulders, to the exit.
Alice and Fred caught up with George easily, he was waiting outside the Fat Lady's portrait. All three started to walk down to the Great Hall exchanging stupid puns and jokes all the way.
When they arrived at the Great hall, George ran down the other side of the Gryffindor table getting there a few seconds before Fred and Alice. While the three started to put food on their plates, the others from Alice's compartment walked in, one at a time. Hermione walked in first, sitting down beside Alice, and the two started to speculate about their first day. Then Harry and Ron. During breakfast, everyone received their time tables for the year. Alice switched her timetables with Harry, Ron, and Hermione; the quartet had all their classes together.
"Well, I guess it's off to our first class." Ron sighed.
"Defense Against the Dark Arts here we come." Alice was actually very excited about her first class, unlike when she went to muggle schools. She always loved to learn, but when the teachers weren't even excited about it, it was hard to be very happy with what you were learning. Surely, when you are learning magic it had to be a thousand times better. Surely.
The four new Gryffindors got up and walked the long way to the Defense classroom, only getting lost three times- barely making it into their seat before the class started.
"O-okay c-class it's t-t-time to start our f-first lesson." Professor Quirrel stuttered. This was the new Defense teacher, they had a new one every year at Hogwarts. Fred and George said that the position was cursed. Alice couldn't help but feel bad for him, she couldn't even imagine something that would spook him so much that he wasn't able to speak right.
