Klarion stared down at Crusch unimpressed. Perked upon his shoulder, Teekl mirrored his stare.
Humbly request his help? Does this girl truly think he'd just cater to her needs?
He's chaos. What does she think he is...Some dumb hero?
If she wants something like that, then she should go and ask...Actually, no. Not even Nabu would just go along with this.
Klarion glanced at Teekl. As expected, her eyes were normal.
The Lords of Chaos had once made him spare little baby magic and her pathetic little gang. But that was because those guys helped when it came to banishing Child.
There's no debt to be repaid yet. If Klarion was to be asked, chaos shouldn't adhere to debts to begin with.
Klarion:And why should I help you?
Crusch grit her teeth. Ashamed as she was to admit it...Truly, why would he help her.
Crusch considers herself a charismatic leader. Each candidate for the Royal Crown have their own speciality and Crusch's was, without a doubt, military power.
That was the main thing she can provide. And that was...Pretty much useless to Klarion, from what she could see.
He had easily crushed Julius, the one that is without a doubt one of the most powerful people in all of their kingdon, with ease. Not only that, Roswal had just told her he had also vanquished the Sin Archbishop of Sloth.
One of the very people taht terrorized the world for hundred of years. Not to mention the most active of the Sin Archbishops...
So, clearly, power was something that Klarion had in spades. While she can offer a variety of other things as well, she can't imagine one of them could interes Klarion.
Roswal:Now~. Now~. Why don't we talk about this in the dinning room? Rem has prepared an assooooortment of snacks for this.
Crusch:Huh?
Klarion:Snacks?
Only the last part seems to have really registered to Klarion. The Chaos Lord shrugged his shoulders.
Klarion:Fine. I'll hear you out.
A crimson whole of twisting space opened just above him. It quickly swallowed both Klarion and Teekl, their current location being obvious.
Emilia:Klarion...Haaah. I'll go talk to him.
Emilia left the room quickly. Ram followed suit, though mostly so she could get front row seats at the show.
Crusch:What is this about, Lord Mathers?
Roswal:I was oooonly trying to help you.
Crusch:Help me?
In response to Crusch's confusion, Roswal grinned while looking down at her. Although it felt like it was nore than the matter of their height, he looked like he was trying to explain something to an incredibly slow child.
Roswal:I have learned a few things about Klarion while living with him. He can't be intiiiiiiimidated. Certainly can't be controoooooled. Has nooooooo real respect to hierarchy. Nor any caaaaaaare for social norms. But what you can do is bargaaaaain with him.
Crusch:...Bargain?
Roswal:Leave the talking to meeeeee.
In the dinning hall Klarion sat boredly at the table while Emilia was scolding him. Teekl, meanwhile, was on the table rolling a biscuit around.
Emilia:Really, it wouldn't hurt you to be nice to others sometimes.
She only said sometimes. Like she knew that him being nice regulary was impossible.
Klarion:Tch! I'm chaos. I don't do nice.
Emilia:But you are nice to Teekl.
Klarion:That's different!
Ram sat at a respectable distance, munching on a few biscuits herself. Like this was her one source of entertainment.
Roswal:It looks like everyone is in hiiiiigh spirits.
The conversation died as Roswal and Crusch arrived. Crusch took a step forward, but Klarion didn't even turn his head.
Strange enough, however, Crusch noted...His cat seemed to be staring holes into her.
Something about the feline's stare really unnerved Crusch. It felt almost...Otherwordly.
Even so, she pressed on. She bowed at exactly ninety degrees.
Crusch:Klarion-dono, tjere have been sightings of the White Whale close by recently. I beg of you to lend us your strenght.
Klarion:The what now? Forget it. I don't like boats anyway.
Roswal:Actually, rather than through the waves, the White Whale saiiiiiils through the sky.
Klarion:The sky...So it's a magical creature?
Now Klarion's interes was piqued a little. He hasn't seen much of those here yet.
In fact, the only ones he saw the the Mabeasts. And they were really dissapointing.
Roswal:Indeeed. It had persisted since the era of witches, created by the veeeeeery Witch of Gluttony.
The Seven Witches...He has heard of them.
Beings who's power was pracrtically incomparable. Counting of how basic all magic he has seen in this world until now was, he really wonders what the Witches could do.
Because what he saw until now of this world...Was really boring.
He just had to drop into an era of peace. No fun at all.
Loathes as he does to admit it, he kind of misses Nabu. At least the old fart was kind of a challenge.
Roswal:This is faaaaar from the first subjegatiom attempt upon the White Whale. Yet aaaaaall others have failed. Truly...I suppose us meeeeeeeere mortals are just too pitiful.
A grin crossed Klarion's face. Yes, they truly were.
Mortals always try to act though. Yet even with all their time, they can only manage to attain baby magic.
Humans were truly pitiful. Yet, their capacity for chaos was practically infinite.
Bah, there was no helping it! He was a kind Lord of Chaos, after all.
Klarion:Fine, fine. Sounds like a fun way to kill time.
Crusch:Truly!? Then first we have to pinpoint...
But suddenly, Klarion spilled his cup of tea. Emilia gasped upon seeing the deliberate gesture.
Emilia:Klarion!
Ran:Now Ram will have to...Huh?
But at that moment, the spilled brown tea...Turned a crimson red, like blood.
Not only that, it began to twist and shift like a map. Teekl licked her lips as she stared predatory at the glob of red moving steadily through the map.
Klarion:Pretty fast for a fat fish.
