"What," I say anger thriving in my voice.
"I'm sorry."
"No, don't you 'I'm sorry' me, you bastard."
"Hey, hey, hey, no need to use fighting words," he teases putting his hands up in defense, "may I remind you that this is your older brother your talking to.
I just glare at him, trying to find something to say.
"Ex-older brother." I shun him as I flip my hair as if it weren't in a bun right now.
At this point he was speechless. Mark just stares at us like we're crazy which he's probably right.
"Fine," he says locking his jaw, "Ex-older brother."
We begin walking up the hill in complete silence. The only sound filling the air is the patterning noise of the rain and our footsteps crunching in the grass. I cross my arms as I look back at James who looks like he wants to kill me.
"So," Mark says fiddling with his hands, "how about this weath-"
"Mark," I interrupt holding up my hand, "don't."
He nods understanding my mood right now. James just rolls his eyes. I stare at him, piercing into his own gaze.
"What," he hisses.
"Who do you think your talking to," I scoff rolling my eyes, "nobody needs your attitude right now."
He goes silent, but I hear him mutter something under is breath.
"What was that?" I remark
sarcastically, holding up my hand to my ear.
"You don't want to know."
"Your right I don't," I assure him, "but what I do want to know is why you came all this way just to tell me that I failed!"
My voice escalates as I get farther into the sentence.
"What I want to know is why you keep provoking me about it!"
He looks at me he locks his jaw once more and stops walking.
"I just wanted to tell you in person so you would think I care about you more."
He stops walking and looks at the ground. I stare at him, despair filling my body full.
"So, is that the only reason you came here?" I say shoving my hands into my pockets.
"No, yes, maybe- ok yes, but I-"
"But you what." I hiss my eyes growing black.
"I-I just- I just want you to be happy."
"If you really wanted that," I start, crossing my arms, "you would of thought twice- no three times about why you came here."
He stares at me giving a 'why are you so stubborn' face.
"Well, then what's going to make you happy."
"Somehow getting me into the compound test-free."
I pronounce the last two words very clearly so he'll understand.
"Fine."
"Oh my God, did this fool just say that," Mark mutters under his breath pinching the bridge of his nose.
I eye Mark giving him a death look.
"Yeah like you scare me."
"Shut up before I amputate your fingers one by one." I threaten putting my hands in a fist.
"Jeez, violent much."
"Twenty-four seven," I say smiling sarcastically.
As we're walking I see a little bit of light coming from the end of the the top of the hill.
"Light ho!" I gush happily jumping up and down.
"What did you just call me," James starts looking a bit hurt, "now I didn't come all this way for you to-"
"No, you idiot, light right there," I correct him pointing at the little bit of hope that we have left.
"Oh," he says staring at it awkwardly.
"You stupid," Mark teases using his traditional fake Mexican accent.
James gives him a death glare. Mark holds his hands up in defense and mutters something under his breath.
"Mark, you are as American as a hamburger just stop," I tease trying to break the tension.
He chuckles, but James has a blank expression on his face.
"Let's go were wasting time." He demands as he begins walking.
"Who died and made you king?" Mark questions tilting his head.
James scowls and narrows his eyes at him.
"The question is who is about to die."
Mark was just about to say something else, but I stop him. I place my hand on his shoulder and slowly shake my head. The day he stands up for himself to someone like James is the day he dies in horrible ways.
We almost reach the top of the hill before we hear a scream so loud it could be heard from all across the world.
"Yo, Mark, dude chill out," James teases smirking.
I expect him to say something back to him, but he just stays silent. He glares at him and continues walking.
After a few more minutes of walking we fiinally reach the top of the hill. We all let out a groan of happiness and pure exhaustion. James was just about to pull back the leaves leaves that block us from freedom when we hear the scream again.
"Mark what did I just-"
"James!" I yell smacking him on the arm, "that came from our- I mean my house."
He quickly pulls back the leaves and we a begin darting towards my house. The cold evening air smacks me across the face as soon as I step out. I ignore the feeling and quickly run to the front of the house since we were in the back.
I run up the stairs once more and quickly push the door open. What lies there before me made my heart shatter into pieces. My mom lies there surrounded by a puddle of blood. Dead.
I slowly walk up to her, Mark and James following my lead. I drop to my knees as I stare at her lifeless body. I see my own reflection in the blood as tears stream down my face. Mark places his hand on my shoulder and rubs my back to calm me down.
Who could have done this?
I look back at Mark and give him a weak smile. As I turn my head back to my mom, I catch a glimpse of something beside her. I slowly get up and walk to the other side of her.
Next to her is a note and a knife drenched in blood. I hold back my tears as I draw my attention away from the knife and to the note. I kneel down to pick it up off the ground and read it aloud.
"Dear Lily and James Wellington,
If you are reading this, then you have found my little surprise for you. Nice isn't it? I-"
"What a psycho," James interrupts shaking his head.
"Tell me about it," Mark replies crossing his arms.
"Ok, can you both just shut up and let me finish reading please," I demand.
They both finally go silent as I continue to read.
"I regret to inform you that the choices you made weren't very smart. You may know what I'm talking about, but at the same time you may not. Just know that the next time you see me it won't be through a note, it will be face to face.
Best of wishes,
The leader of the Nirvana"
I stare at the now tear-stained letter.
"What does this mean," I ask slowly getting up.
"I don't know, but it's something terrible." Mark says sliding his arm around my shoulders.
"Way to go, Sherlock," James prevokes sarcastically while removing Mark's arm from around me, "you solved the mystery."
Mark whips his body around quickly and stares into his eyes. He crosses his arms as he glares at him.
"Mark," I say breaking the tension, "do you think I could stay with you, like forever. I don't think I could stay here knowing this happened."
"Sure you can stay in the guest bedroom."
"I'll go too," James chips in placing his eyes on me.
"Why?" I question tilting my head and perking up my ears like a dog.
"Because I want to support my little sister," he assures placing his hand on the small of my back, "and I don't need Mark getting any ideas."
He raises an eyebrow as a smirk spreads across face.
"Ok, so all of us at my house right?" He asks rolling his eyes at James.
"Yup."
"Correct."
"Alright then," he says, "Lily go get your stuff packed. James and I will wait by the door."
I nod my head as I make my way to my room. I begin grabbing clothes and putting them in my suitcase as a thought passed through my head. Whoever killed my mom is going to pay.

AN: HELLLOOOO PEOPLE!
How's life? Good? Great? Eh? Well, either way I hope this chapter made you fee happy...I guess. By the way, I'm sorry the last part of the chapter was so depressing, but trust me it gets better.
One thing I wanted to say is that my friend who reads this story asked if Lily and Mark start dating or something at the end of the story. The answer to that is: Meh...idk? You'll just have to wait and see...sorry ;)
Anyways, my point is that I kinda sorta want you guys to come up with a ship name for them. I don't know why I just think it would be fun to see what you come up with.
Maybe I will put it in a future chapter and give you a shoutout. Maybe...
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I will see you in the next one. BUHHH BAIIII!!!!!
