The gay straight alliance club. Rose felt like this would be great to start off the year. Two weeks in and she was doing fine, not telling her mom what club she was in. Though the third week, she had picked her and Molly up and confronted them. Immediately Rose began to sob, again feeling like she was in trouble. She liked girls, she really did and she had a very amazing girlfriend at the time. "What club is it?" Her mother asked sternly, Rose was unable to reply, crying hard. Rose's mom thought she was having sex or doing drugs at school (somehow) and was concerned, which at the time seemed stupid to Rose, but made sense later on. She thought it was wrong to like girls. She didn't talk about liking them either, being that her mother was always talking about Rose marrying a boy and the fact that she had had crushes on guys before.

The whole ride to Molly's house, she was asked the same question until finally Rose answered. Though her mom wasn't satisfied and told her to tell her the real answer to which Rose and Molly both replied, "We're telling the truth," Molly had went on, "it's the gay straight alliance for people who like any gender to just talk about things and deal with problems sometimes." When they got to Molly's house, she tried to pull Roseout with her, but her mother said no. Once she was out of the car, Rose's mom sped home and didn't say anything other than, "you can't hang out with Molly, she's turning you into something you're not and I don't like her anyways."

Rose felt awful, feeling like her mother hated her for being who she thought she was at that time. Not knowing what to do, Rose talked to the president of her club about what had happened. He told her to put her mother on the phone so she could talk to the president's aunt to try and reason with her. Though when Rose tried to get her mom to speak with her, she went berserk, saying that she couldn't believe her daughter was talking trash about her behind her back. Which of course, Rose somewhat was, but she was only saying what had happened and how she felt about it.

Her mother tried to take her phone and Rose pushed her hand away, pulling her phone to her chest. This lead to Rose screaming as she was being pulled into the house by her hair, being punched and kicked and sat on until she finally had given up and let go. She ran upstairs when she was free, being followed up by her mother who came and took all the rest of Rose's electronics. Upon running upstairs, Rose saw that her aunt had walked in and figured she couldn't run to her house. Therefore, the next closest thing was Molly's which was a good hike down to. She didn't care and ran to her house without shoes, crying and sobbing all the while. When she arrived, she drank nearly a gallon of water before telling Molly what happened and they both decided to call the police.

Being that Rose was young and her mother and father were obviously sided together, Rose was given no justice and told that she could stay with someone for a bit until things calmed down. She agreed to this, but was told no by her dad and taken home almost immediately. "You caused a lot of trouble for your mother." He said, making Rose scoff and shake her head, staring out the window. Later that night, she was in the back porch with her parents. "You're not gay, stop acting like this. Ever since you've been hanging out with Molly, you changed. You can't hang out with her anymore because she's trying to make you gay. Stop pretending you're gay for attention." She spat out, causing Rose to cry and yell out, "if I'm faking it, how come I have a girlfriend?!" Before she tried to run off again, unintentionally hitting her mother in the face to get away. She was caught though, her long blonde hair tight in her mother's fist as she was thrown to the ground and kicked until her uncle finally pulled her away. Rose ran back up to her room and cried into her bed, all of the house phones taken out of her room as well so she couldn't call the police again. She went to bed with no dinner and the next day, she went to school and surprisingly made it through the day without crying. She didn't talk to Molly or anyone, just kept her head down the whole day.

After she got off the bus, she went straight to her room and shut the door, going to sob into her pillow. She didn't eat lunch that day and was finally brought dinner by her dad that night. Later, her mother came in and lectured Rose about how she has to be straight because she had only ever experimented with guys when she was younger. Rose didn't listen to a single word and cried herself to sleep again. The next morning, she didn't get out of bed, other than to get her sketch book and pencils. She didn't eat lunch and was again brought up dinner.

She was told to stop though the day after, her mother saying she was overreacting and being stupid. She wasn't gay and that was it. Rose didn't have her phone for a week or so, but she had found where it was and stolen it on Monday when she went back to school. This earned her another week of being grounded, but at least she was able to talk to Sarah.

Their relationship had somewhat faded over the time that she was grounded, not to mention she was told to break up with Lauren since they had found out about her sleeping over her house while they were together. Soon enough it was summer again though and Rose had moved on from Sarah.
