The women swaddled me in her arms walking with her husband to the car. It was a brand new red station wagon. They buckled me in a pick floral car seat, and got into the front. The man was driving and the women was sitting in the passenger seat. I heard mumbles of words that I didn't really care to pay attention to, until one conversation.
"Eric, what if there is something wrong with her. I don't think I could handle that again." The women said with broken words.
"Aaron, that will be a bridge that we'll hopefully never cross again." Said (the now known named man) Eric.
"I just can't help but think about it, what if the same thing happens to her, that what happened to Charlotte." Aaron said starting to sniffle.
"It won't! I promise you that will
not happen as long as I'm here!" Eric says raising his voice at her.
Aaron does not reply she turns away from him and looks at the window.
As she does, I do the same. The sun is setting leaving the sky full of pinks and oranges. I kept replaying the conversation in my head. With questions popping up in my mind, who is Charlotte? What ever happened to her that would make them scared that it would happen to me? The car ride after that was absolutely silent. I just kept staring through the window at the sunset, trying to distract myself from thinking about what the answers could be.
