Hiding

You can't see me
I hide in plain sight
In a reality where
Myself isn't right

You say you know me
As you take a look
But that isn't me
I'm not an open book

During the day
I play my part
But sometimes
It can fall apart

When you're around
I'm trapped in a maze
With no way out
Leaving me in a daze

When I'm alone
I start to think
Why do I stay
And let myself shrink

You used to be kind
I still remember
The fun we had
Back in September

You lost yourself
To popular demand
But once upon a time
You would take a stand

Now you listen
To what they say
And all you want
Is for me to obey

I will admit
I miss how we were
But you have a disease
One with no cure

But I won't wait
With fingers crossed
I know our friendship
Is forever lost
