Chapter Sixteen

*Lauren's Point of View*

*Time Lapse: One Week Later*

It's been a little over a week since I saw Katherine and Emily kissing. I still don't know how to feel about it. I mean, I guess I don't really have a problem with her liking girls... I just don't really understand why she wouldn't have already told us. There's nothing she could be or say or do to cause us to hate her. I also don't have anything against Emily. They are cute together, I have to be honest.

I wish I could talk to someone about what I'm feeling, or lack there of, but I swore to Kath that I wouldn't say anything. Wait a minute...

An idea came out of nowhere, motivating me to go and find Christina. She's a good listener.

Finding her in the music room, I went up to her and tapped her on the shoulder in order to get her attention.

"Hey, Christina?"

"Hey Lauren. What's up?"

"Can we um... Can we talk? In private?"

"Sure, of course. Lead the way."

I led us to my bedroom, making sure it was empty before dragging her inside and locking the door. I couldn't really risk anyone barging in on us in the middle of this conversation.

"The reason I need to talk to you is because there is this situation and I don't really know how to feel about it or what to do..."

"Lauren, what is the situation? Is something wrong? Oh my gosh is it a boy?? It's a boy isn't it?!"

"No, Christina, it's not about a boy," I replied, giggling.

"What would you do if you knew this person, and they were gay, but nobody knew. Everyone thinks they are straight, but they are in a secret relationship. Then you accidentally find out about their sexuality, and they make you swear not to tell anyone. You agree not to talk to anybody about it, but you don't know what to do about it, and you can't really pinpoint how you feel about the situation What do you do?"

"Hm..." She sat there for a moment, her face not showing a lick of what she was thinking.

"Well, I guess it depends on who the situation is about, and what your relationship with that person is. Why do you ask?"

"No reason... I was just asking... You know, I mean, you never know what can happen."

"Okay... Well, how close are you with these people?"

She studied my face as I shrugged, turning my head, not verbally answering her.

"Is it someone I know?"

Again I shrugged, fearing if I spoke, my voice would give away any suspicious hints towards my motive behind this whole conversation.

"Alright. Well, is there anything else you want to talk to me about?"

"No... No, that was it... Thanks, Christina." I answered her, hoping she wouldn't question me about this any further.

At dinner later that night Christina kept giving me these strange looks. It made me a little uncomfortable, honestly. I noticed that Katherine and Emily weren't really eating all that much. I wonder what's bugging them...

I've decided that no matter what, I will support Katherine with whatever she decides, as long as she is happy. In my opinion, that's all that should matter. Not whether or not you like whatever is going on, or if you agree or not, or if it pleases or displeases you, but if it makes whoever is making the decision happy or not. If it makes them happy, then by all means go for it. If it doesn't, you probably shouldn't intervene, but nonetheless, just support them. And that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to fully support Katherine. I'm glad she has found someone who appears to make her happy.

Sorry that this chapter is short! It's more of a filler chapter, really... I've got some big plans for the end of this book, and it's time to get those plans moving forward! Just as long as all of you promise not to hate me too much, and to forgive me soon enough... x)
