Chapter Eighteen

*Narrator/Third Person Point of View*

*Time Skip: One Hour After Emily

"Tonight on ABC7 we will be discussing the escape of prisoner Joseph Michaels, the car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway that caused the traffic backup, and the two teenage boys who were arrested this afternoon for shoplifting at a local Costco..."

*Emily's Point of View*

I woke up, slowly regaining consciousness, when I remembered what had happened to me. I tried to get up to search for a light switch when I realized my attempts were futile, because I was chained to the wall. It was so dark that I could look over to where my arm is and I couldn't see a thing. I felt like I was blind.

I don't know how long I stayed in the dark without an ounce of light. It could have been a few minutes, or hours, or even days...

After sitting in the dark, all alone except for the thoughts stirring around in my head, a light flicked on and shone through the bottom of the door. I saw a shadow breaking through the light, coming closer towards the door with each step. I heard a click and then the door busted open, revealing the man who I would recognize anywhere.

    My uncle, Kyle.

He was my father's brother, only two years younger than him.I remember I used to visit him quite often, especially before the move.

"Long time, no see. Isn't that right, Emily? I must say it has been a while. I've missed you, as well as your visits, very much. However, now I'll be the one visiting you, since you're under my custody. Ah, I almost forgot! I have a surprise for you! I'll be just a moment." He walked out, leaving the door open. I assume he saw no reason to shut it now, considering I'm chained and can't escape.

He returned moments later, with someone right behind him. Once they entered the room, I gasped, my jaw falling through the floor as my eyes popped straight out of my skull.

    "Dad?!"

A/N: Picture is of Kyle.
