Chapter 17
Lindsey twirled in front of the mirror as she studied her white dress from every angle. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun with a few tendrils tickling her neck. She had played up her eyes with golden shadow and charcoal colored liner. Her lips had been painted a deep read and they were wet and shiny with gloss.
She chose red heels and sheer hosiery to feel sexy! The simple diamond on a dainty chain and the matching studs on her ears made her feel feminine and delicate. She felt as though she was a bold, yet chic, creature and she was going to allure the man of her dreams.
Something inside of her felt a little wicked tonight.
Maybe it was the fact that she was going to help a ghost make a love match between a preacher and a witch. Maybe it was the fact that she planned on trying her hand at sexual teasing tonight. She wanted to show Thane a fun, flirty side of her that didn't involve pretending. She used flirting to sell houses, now she was going to use it to seduce.
Her heart hammered in her chest as she put a hand to her throat. Self-doubt made her contemplate changing again. It had taken her six tries to find the right outfit, but did she want to look sophisticated tonight or bewitching?
Sighing, she sat down at the white vanity she had sitting in the corner of her bedroom and she studied her face in the dim lighting. She hoped the candle-light at the restaurant would hide her nerves. It was easier to be yourself in the dark...especially when you see ghost. As long as the lights were out, she was a free woman. There might be spirits hiding in the shadows, but it didn't bother her. Out of sight, out of mind was her motto.
She pressed her lisp together and released, making them look swollen and voluptuous. A sensual smile decorated her face and she turned her head from side to side to see if she looked different since she had finally met someone that she could let loose with.
Thane had given her a new type of freedom that she had been missing and craving for years. She expected to see a glow to her skin, a twinkle in her eye, but all she saw was a happier version of herself and it felt gloriously right.
She narrowed her eyes as she leaned in and ran a hand across her cheek, "I look the same...but I feel completely different."
"You only look the same to yourself. Everyone else can see that you have blossomed. You are absolutely vibrant, Lindsey."
She whirled at the sound of Benjamin's voice and smiled up at him as he stood beside her bed dressed in jeans and a red t-shirt. He looked hesitant, but she assumed he was anxious to see Penny, so she ignored the way her stomach clenched with unease.
She shrugged her shoulders delicately and stood up, "I feel different, but I don't know if it is because I am happy or if it is because I met Thane and he makes me feel beautiful...normal."
Benjamin smiled softly and walked toward her with an outstretched hand. She went to him and giggled when he slipped an arm around her waist and put her hands behind his neck. Her phone began to play music and she laid her head on his chest as she sighed.
He led her in a lazy circle, holding her tight as they swayed to the rhythm, "Do you remember your first school dance? You were in sixth grade and we practiced our amazingly horrible dance moves for two months before I convinced you to go."
Lindsey smiled against his chest as she remembered the horrible night in question. "Oh, I will never forget that. It was the 'Spring Fling' and all of the girls had to wear yellow and all of the boys had to wear blue and all of the teachers had to wear green. I spent most of the night in the corner talking to Susan Murphy...of course she had been dead for twenty years, but I still enjoyed our conversation."
