Confusion

Obviously he was bound to tire from running. I'm surprised he ran so long without stopping actually. At this point it was just as if he were giving me a piggy-back ride. I'm not sure if perhaps I slipped or what happened but this was more comfortable. "Arata, its okay now." He slowed down step by step, "Are you sure? I can keep running." I smiled, "If you run anymore you'll pass out." "I will not! Here I'll prove it to you!" He began running again, out of shock I accidentally pulled on his hair. He has soft hair. "Ow! Lu, that hurts!" I retracted my hand immediately and placed them on his shoulders again, "Ah, I'm sorry, Arata. Your hair is just so soft that I couldn't help myself." I said with a laugh.

When he didn't respond I peeked over his shoulder and noticed that his skin was tainted a deep red. I poked his cheek and watched as the red darkened even further. "Hehe." As I kept poking him his features shifted into those of annoyance. I felt him stop walking, "Oi. Lu, it ain't funny." His hand grasped mine and halted my movements. He turned his head, and my breath caught when his bright blue eyes met mine. His silver hair shone bright underneath the sunlight. He had a look of surprise and soon his pale skin was inked with color once again.

He's beautiful.

I gasped when he suddenly let go of my legs. He grabbed me before I fell. "Arata?" I asked cautiously. His serious expression surprised me. Then I remembered.

I covered my face unconsciously and tried to get out of his grasp. "Let go of me!" I only felt his grip tighten on my arm, where I had a bruise, "OW! STOP IT! THAT HURTS!" His eyes widened in realization and he let go of me. I grabbed my school bag tightly and began running. "Lu! Hey, wait-stop!"

I didn't stop, in fact I sped up. I could hear his footsteps catching up, I felt my heart beat faster and faster. I looked around for somewhere to hide but there were only sakura trees. I tripped over a fallen branch and I let myself fall, my face landed on top of my arms.

"Lucy!"

His footsteps stopped and I felt him crouch down next to me. I didn't even have enough energy to get up.

"Lu, are you oka-" I raised my head, but didn't turn to look at him, "You liar." "Huh?" I could hear the confusion in his voice. "You lied to me. You said that I could cry and you promised that you weren't going to look at me." This time I did turn, and I looked him straight in the eyes, "You broke that promise, you lied." He visibly flinched and then looked down, "I-I'm sorry." I calmed down slightly, I could use this against him. I sat up and leaned against a tree.

I'm being unfair, I know that.

He suddenly looked up, "I am sorry but that doesn't change the fact that your hurt. What happened?" I felt panic bubbling up within me, "What are you talking about? I fell earlier on. I told you, I'm a klutz. In fact you just witnessed it." "Lu, don't act stupid. Your face is bruised. Your lip in burst in the corner, that's not from a fall. Someone hit you."

I felt myself flinch, "W-haha you're kidding." "Lucy. I am not joking, what the hell happened to you? The other day too, you had marks on your legs. Its not from falling or anything like that. So please just tell me what happened. I'll listen to you, I won't say anything to anyone."

I could feel my bottom lip quivering, "Arata, I- I can't." I spoke again when I saw him open his mouth in refusal, "At least not right now. I will tell you, soon, just not now. I'm sorry." The sadness was evident on his features but he nodded none-the-less. He stood up and I thought he was going to walk away, like he should have.

But he didn't.

Instead, he motioned for me to scoot over, and once I did he sat next to me. A few silent minutes had passed by when he abruptly turned and reached forward, suddenly embracing me in a hug. He then proceeded to whisper in my ear, "I don't know what's going on, but I'm here. I always will be. I'm not gonna leave you alone, no matter how much you want me to. I'll be patient. When you feel ready to tell me what's going on, I'll listen."

I sat there in shock for a few moments before I wrapped my arms around him, returning the embrace. I closed my eyes, relaxing into his embrace. It was then that I realized; I needed this. I had needed someone to hold me and tell me that it would all be okay.

"Lucy?"

I recognized his voice immediately. I opened my eyes and turned in his direction.

"What the fuck are you doing?"
