If you were to travel to the most basic town in the United States, you would find yourself in Fairfield, Wyoming. Like most small towns in America, the people all knew each other very well. When going to the store to buy a few items, you would be there for almost an hour catching up with Mrs. Harley who just had her baby or Grant Sampson, who was your realtor who helped you purchase your first house. Nothing too interesting ever happened in Fairfield. And if it did, it was like a rare treat to the citizens who loved to get their hands on any juicy gossip thrown their way. The point is that the small town in Wyoming was pretty boring.
And I just happen to live in this boring town. My name is Nellie Watson and I am thirteen years old. I live in a cookie cutter house in the suburbs. I'm an only child to my mother Katherine and father Harry. My mother works in a small antique shop in an outlet mall in town. When she's not selling ancient lamps and old sewing machines, she's slaving over her laptop trying to write her next novel. She has only had one book published and that was five years ago. The book was about a young boy who moves into a new neighborhood and his his is haunted. The book did great and she did many book signings and meet and greets, but nothing as genius as "Eerie Halls" has ever sprouted in her brain since.
My mother is the reason I am so interested in reading. She always sends me to the book store to grab a book for her. I always grab myself something too.
My dad is a lawyer. He is almost never home except for the weekends when he is on the phone with clients. There isn't much to say about my dad except for that he is always gone at work.
So my life was pretty much average until I found The Book.
