A vampire's true nature is to fight each other for power. They devour each other, taking each other's power until there is nothing left of the other. Their thirst for power is unlimited, casting them in the shadows. Vampires do not belong in the light. They belong in the dark ...
Akiko Kuran pulled her fangs out of the man's neck, blood dripping down her chin and landing on the bodice of her white dress, staining it red. The man in her arms turned into dust, flowing over her arms and onto the pavement, the dust swirling around in the wind and disappearing from her vision. Akiko lifted her bare arm and wiped the blood off her mouth as she turned around, her black hair swaying with her movement and the bell that had belonged to her mother, Shizuka Hio, jingling a soft, gentle rhythm with her movement.
"This is disgusting," Akiko mutters, looking at her reflection in a shop window. Her purple eye looked faded, dead, as if all the life was drained out of it whilst her red eye was bright and alive. "This red eye, reminding me of my father, is disgusting. Mother, I will kill that monster I call a father. I would to what you could not." That is a promise. It has been four months since Akiko left Cross Academy, seeking the power to destroy her father once and for all. Everything Akiko has been doing, taking the lives of innocent humans, gaining more power, was for that one reason. If she could obtain the blood of another Pureblood vampire Akiko would be even more powerful.
Akiko turned away from her reflection and walked down the street, her high heeled boots making a soft clacking noise as she walked. She came to an run-down building, the windows smashed in and the building giving off a creepy aura. Akiko pushed the door opened and walked down the darkened hallway, the only light coming from the moon shining through the window. It was dim, but Akiko knew where she was going.
"Welcome back, Akiko-Sama," Ichiru Kiryuu greets as Akiko enters the underground basement, bowing as she passed him. Akiko nodded to him.
"Did you get the job working at the Senate?" Akiko asked, sitting down onto a four poster bed in the middle of the room. Ichiru knelt in front of her.
"Yes, Akiko-Sama."
"And?" Akiko asked.
"Rido Kuran is kept in an underground room under the Senate House," Ichiru explained. "His body is still regenerating after being destroyed by Kaname Kuran."
"And the Senate didn't expect you?" Akiko asked. Ichiru shook his head no. A grin creeps onto Akiko's face. "Well done Ichiru. Now all we need to do is inroll into Cross Academy again. I will destroy Rido there and you can destroy Zero Kiryuu like you wish. My mother's death will not be in vain and will also be avenged."
"Yes, the ones responsible for Shizuka-Sama's death will pay for their crimes," Ichiru agreed.
Everything I've done is to achieve this one goal, Akiko thought.

"Mikio-Sama," a trembling maid says as Mikio Shoto pushes through the doors of the Shoto Mansion. "Welcome home.""Thank you," Mikio says, his voice lacking any emotion. "Come with me please."
"Of course, Mikio-Sama," the maid squeaks, running to catch up with the Pureblood. Mikio walked down the long hallways of the mansion, his steps the only sound apart from the maid's heavy breathing as she scurried behind him. Mikio almost felt a stab of guilt about what he was going to do to the human maid. Almost. "M-M-Mikio-Sama, where are we going?" the maid squeaks. She stops and stares in bewilderment as Mikio stops in front of a door at the end of the hallway. Mikio reached out and broke the doorknob, the door swinging open with the creepy squeaking noise that were always in those horror movies. The maid begun to tremble harder when she looked over Mikio's shoulder into the room, which was pitch black. She did not want to go in there, into that dark basement, but she had no choice as Mikio stepped into the darkness, disappearing from her sight. The maid hurried to catch up with him, her panting echoing off the damp walls.
"M-M-Mikio-Sama?" the maid called out again, but Mikio didn't answer. He just kept going.
The maid swallowed down her urge to scream as they came to a stop in the basement bellow the Shoto Mansion, the only light coming from the candles surrounding the room. The maid looked over Mikio's shoulder and gasped when she saw the coffin lying in the middle of the floor which Mikio was walking towards.
"This is my great-grandfather," Mikio explains, pushing the coffin lid off the coffin. It landed on the ground with a loud crash and the maid flinched as the sound echoed through the basement. "Isaya Shoto. He has been in a slumber for fifty years." Mikio gestured to the maid to come forward and she did so, hesitantly. She came to a stop next to Mikio and peered into the coffin, where a young looking man lay, fast asleep. He had light ash blonde hair that was long, reaching to his shoulders and was wearing a white old fashioned shirt. Mikio leaned closer to the sleeping man, his black hair falling into his eyes as he peered at the man's face. "I think it's about time you woke up, Great-Grandfather," he whispered.
The maid gasped as Mikio's hand shot forward, grabbing her neck. She barely had time to scream as Mikio sunk his teeth into her neck, ripping it apart so that her blood dripped onto the man's face. Colour came to the men's face as his lips slightly parted, taking the blood into his mouth. His eyes flew open, revealing the same piercing blue eyes as Mikio. Mikio smirked.
"Good morning Great-Grandfather Isaya," Mikio greets as Isaya grabbed the dead maid's body, dragging her to him and sinking his teeth into her neck, draining her blood. "I hope you had a nice sleep."
The maid's body turned to dust as Isaya sat up, wiping the blood off his face. He turned to give Mikio a questioning look.
"Why did you wake me?" he asked. "Great-Grandson."
"I wanted a family reunion," Mikio answered, leaning towards his great grandfather. "Is that so bad to ask? After all, everything will be for one moment in time. You will see."
Everything for one moment.
