Story 4: March 10 (Part 1)

Wang Qing and Dayu are roommates but they rarely hang out together since both of them take different courses. Both of them have two same subjects but Wang Qing has his own circle of friends and Dayu is usually all by himself.

Sometimes Dayu will be in the library with his friends and sometimes he prefers to be alone in his dorm. He hardly hangs out with Wang Qing. When they go out, mostly they are going to buy materials for coursework or going for grocery.

Before Wang Qing's birthday, his classmates had planned to celebrate his birthday with him. They even asked him when he will be free.
"This upcoming weekend? I think I am free for both days," Wang Qing said.

"Want to hang out??" Lu Nan asked.

"Shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know when I am free," Wang Qing said and went back to his dorm after his class has ended.

As usual, Dayu is in the dorm. He is either playing a computer games or reading when he is in the dorm. "Hi," Dayu said when he saw Wang Qing entered the room.

"Hi..." Wang Qing replied and then he remembered about his birthday, "Hey, are you free this weekend?"

"Yes..." Dayu answered nonchalantly and continued flipping the book.

"Want to have lunch or dinner with me?" Wang Qing asked, hopping to get a positive answer from Dayu.

"Okay. Dinner on Saturday?" Dayu was browsing his phone when he said that.

"Sure." Wang Qing felt satisfied when Dayu agreed to have dinner with him. Usually when he asks him, Dayu will reject and his reason is he has many assignments and coursework to do.

The next day in the class, Lu Nan asked Wang Qing which day he prefers to celebrate his birthday and Wang Qing's answer is Sunday.

"Do you want to bring your roommates along?" Ci Kent asked.

"Not really. They are busy." Wang Qing answered quickly because he doesn't want Dayu and his classmates to know each other.

"Alright then. We are going to celebrate on Sunday," Ci Kent confirmed.

After the class, Lu Nan and Ci Kent bumped into Dayu at the corridor. Ci Kent quickly stopped Dayu.
"Are you staying in the same dorm with Wang Qing?" Ci Kent asked when Dayu stopped and looked weirdly at him.

"Yes...Anything I could help you with?" Dayu seem to know him since he saw him from one of the same class that they share. He knew that Ci Kent always sit between Wang Qing and Lu Nan.

"Hey, what you trying to do?" Lu Nan whispered to Ci Kent.
Lu Nan knew that Wang Qing doesn't like them to talk to his roommates.

"Just keep quiet," Ci Kent said to Lu Nan and shifted his attention back to Dayu.

"Are you free this Sunday? We are going to celebrate Wang Qing's birthday so we want you to join us," Ci Kent said confidently as he felt that Dayu will surely agree.

"No. I am not free. Sorry..." Dayu replied calmly.

"Oh...Okay. Sorry to disturb you then," Lu Nan quickly said to Dayu and pulled Ci Kent with him.
"Bye. Have a nice day," Lu Nan said after he saw Dayu waves his hand towards them.

Dayu then took out his phone. He checked the calendar and smiles. Then, he sent a message to Wang Qing. He asked him for a suggestion. 'Where do you plan to eat this Saturday?'

Wang Qing replied his message, 'I am not sure...Any suggestion?'

'Latenight then. Let's go by taxi.'

'Alright...' Wang Qing agreed. Dayu then make a reservation on Latenight for this upcoming Saturday after he read Wang Qing's message.

On Friday night, Dayu didn't come back to their dorm and that makes Wang Qing worried about his whereabouts. He even asked Qiu Shi.
Qiu Shi then replied sassily, "I am not one of the worms inside his body. How the hell should I know where he goes?"

From time to time Wang Qing hopes he can punch Qiu Shi. Sometime Qiu Shi can be very nice but sometime he is a daredevil. However, most of the time he is a daredevil.

"Oh ya! I'm going back to the hometown tomorrow. So, stay sweet with Dayu, okay? And don't miss me too much." Qiu Shi said with a very annoying tone.

"Get lost." Wang Qing retorted coldly. He had always disliked when Qiu Shi mocks him and he actually prefer Dayu more than Qiu Shu. It's just that he can't admit it out.

"Fine! I really won't be coming back for a week. Take care." Qiu Shi said and went to take a bath.

Wang Qing looked at his phone and it is 11:59 pm. Another one minute and he will be 19. Just then, his phone rang and Wang Qing picked it up.

"Happy Birthday Big Kid Wang Qing!" Came a voice that Wang Qing is very familiar but he is not sure who does the voice belong to.

"Thanks." Wang Qing said awkwardly.

"Cannot guess who I am?" Again, the voice sound eerily familiar.

"Dayu?!!! It's you right? How did you get my number?" Wang Qing suddenly felt contented that the caller is Dayu.

"Secret..." Dayu laughed and continued, "Hey, Happy 19th year old. You are a big boy now. Don't always act like a kid..."

"What? A kid? You think you are that old?" Wang Qing felt irritated when Dayu said he is a kid.

"Fine fine...Okay, see you tomorrow. Bye birthday boy," Dayu said and hang up the phone.

All Wang Qing's anxiousness is gone when he got the birthday wishes from Dayu. He then went to his bed. He can't wait for his dinner with Dayu tomorrow since he still needs to submit some assignments to his lecturer in the morning.
