Alanna

I had finally said it. Admitted it. I told Dominick how I really felt and it felt so good. 

He grabbed my face and kissed me again. I swear this was the best I've felt since..the last time I saw him.

A little while later we walked back into the house before anyone got suspicous. The ice had melted and I got a couple of salty looks for Micah. I couldn't help it I was all smiles.. 

"Alanna I want you to meet someone." Dominick said taking my hand. We walked to the living room and I saw the most precious little girl talking to my mom.

"Ash, come here baby girl." Dominick said. The little girl who I knew had to be Dominick's little girl walked over. She looked so much like him it was almost unreal.

"Yes daddy?"

"I'd like you to meet my..Friend Ms. Alanna."

"Ooo she's pretty daddy." I smiled at his beautiful little girl. "Hi, I'm Ashlyn. But if you're my friend you can call me Ash."

"Well nice to meet you Ashlyn, I like your barbie."

"Thanks! You wanna play?"

"How about you play a little bit later, okay?" Dominick said. He was so calm with her, and my heart went out to that little girl for real. She had no idea what was going on, and she was so innocent.

We all gathered around the dinner table and Ms.Richords' said grace.

"Thank you lord for this delicious meal. Even though Micah put a ton of salt in the mashed potatoes and possibly ruined the whole dinner. Bless her lord. And the rest of the food that was prepared. In Jesus name, amen."

"You did not have to go there Mr.Rich." Micah said laughing. 

We all dug in the food and I had to admit everything taste great, including the mashed potatoes. 

"So how's college for you Alanna?" Vanessa, Dominick's mom asked.

"Um, it's great actually." I said taking a sip of wine.

"Any great job offers yet?"

"Not any that I'm really interested in. I've been thinking about selling some of my portfolio's to an art studio or something."

"That sounds like a great idea. What about you Micah?" 

"Um, things are good. All my credits from the community college transferred perfectly. I actually really like the campus too."

Dominicks phone vibrated and he looked at it and turned it off.  Something told me it was Cassie. I put my hand on his knee, so that he would know that I was here.  He turned to me and smiled.

"Daddy I can't eat!" Ashlyn whined. I looked over at her high chair and almost laughed. Her food was a tampered mess. Dominick started to get up, but I squeezed his knee and got up myself. I took a knife and fork and tried to make some type of orginization with her plate.

I cut her chicken in small little squares and cut her string beans in half.

"Is that better." I asked her.

"Mhmm."

"What do you say?" Dominick said from his seat.

"Thank you Ms. Alanna." I sat back in my seat. Everybody else was continuing with their own side conversations. Dominick turned to me.

"You didn't have to do that."

"Well I wanted to." I gave his hand a squeeze and we continued to eat.
