Calm down Bruce

The next day, I woke up early and made my way to school. I must have been about an hour early because the gates were shut. I waited patiently and a while later, the caretaker arrived to open the school. I made my way inside and stood by my locker. It was only a minute's walk from where I'd first met Steve. Unfortunately, I didn't see him before lessons started. I looked at my timetable and gulped; my first lesson was Physics. I got out my phone just to double check if Tony had sent me another message. He hadn't. He still wanted me to stay away from him.

I took a deep breath and stood up to my full height, all 5'2". The other students hadn't seen me nor Tony since our fight with Bucky the previous Friday. They all turned and watched me walk to my seat at the back of the classroom, where I sat quietly next to Tony. He ignored me and wrote the date into his book, ready for class to start. A group of girls a couple of rows in front of us started to whisper excitedly. Obviously we were the school gossip.

The lesson went slowly and we did the group work by ourselves. We were starting the radiation section of the syllabus so it was all easy for me. Tony, on the other hand, was struggling. I tried to show him I was willing to help by looking over at his work, but I think I just made him more annoyed. Mr Fury let us go early and I followed Tony. I stayed a meter or so behind him though to try and hide myself.

There were some uses to being small and skinny it turns out. Tony walked all the way to the other side of the school, near the nurse's office. Instead of continuing down the corridor to the nurse's office, he turned left and went down to music. He went into one of the music p0ractise rooms and I crept up when the door closed, positioning myself so I could see into the room but he couldn't see me.

Through the thin strip of glass in the door, I saw him sitting on the floor, with Nat beside him. I couldn't hear what they were talking about, but they were holding hands. I think Tony was even crying. I kept watching them as they hugged, Tony resting his head on Nat's shoulder. Then the unbelievable happened. Nat kissed Tony on the head. Tony immediately locked onto her eyes with his and they just stared at one-another. I could feel no emotions as, in slow motion, they got closer to one another. I couldn't believe this was happening! I wasn't selfish or anything, but they had both kissed me just a few days ago!

I threw open the door and they fell apart. I said nothing but I hoped they could see the feeling of betrayal on my face. "So this is why you want to ignore me Tony?" I felt the anger climbing up into my head, turning my face crimson. "No, Bruce. I didn't know." Tony was stuttering. Nat stood up and placed her and on my chest. "Bruce, calm down. Calm down and we can talk." I huffed and puffed like in the fairy tales but I just felt another surge of anger at them.
