The small piece of crap rung in my pocket as I shifted in my seat, a soft yawn escaping my lips while my arms stretched out above me. I sluggishly grabbed it out of my pocket and answered it without looking at the caller ID, instantly regretting it.
"Hello?" I asked, my voice coming out groggier than expected as I attempted to run a hand through my knotted hair. "Stella? Stella? Oh my God, are you alright?" Allison's shaky voice breathed out into the phone, my eyes widening. "I'm okay, Al. I'm alright." I told her as I leaned my head against the headrest, my eyes closing in exhaustion and my breath coming out in long huffs.
"Scott told me you were in your room last night. We're you?" She questioned, making my eyes shoot open in annoyance. I told him not to tell her-gah, she's his girlfriend, I shouldn't expect a lot, especially if he just met me. "Uh.. Yeah. Yeah I was." I told her, a wince etched onto my face as I thought about her reaction; hurt, betrayal, anger... Oh God, no. "Why didn't you want me to know?" Her frail voice whispered through the phone making me feel awful about what I had done, but I couldn't give in. Not right now.
"Allison, I didn't want you to worry about me, alright?" I fused, my eyes blinking faster as I tried to rid myself of the aftermath from sleep. Usually whenever we get in a fight, I'm the one to resolve-but with the way things are going... I don't honestly know. "I'd worry about you more if I hadn't of known you were there last night! Stel, you can't just act like you're fine, I saw dad shoot you!" She hissed in annoyed tone, making me cringe internally before continuing.
"That's the thing, though. Dad shot me. I am on his radar, and if he..." I stopped short, the words ending on my tongue as I thought about what might happen. I took a shaky breath with my eyes trained on the paper blowing across the parking lot, before nodding my head as if she could see me. "If dad hears, or sees me... That's it, Al. I don't want him to have to kill me because of that... Stupid code. And I'm sure mom knows about me already." I could hear her breathing becoming slightly erratic as she thought about my reasoning, before her voice quietly spoke over the phone, it cracking slightly as it shook. "A-alright. I understand."
Then, instead of her usual 'goodbye, Stell' or 'talk to you soon', I got nothing but the sound of her ending the call. I groaned loudly before slamming it on top of the center console and hitting the back of my head against the head rest, my eyes squinting tightly as I thought about her, how she reacted, everything-which drove me crazy.
Sighing deeply I pulled out my keys and shoved them into the ignition, but to my luck my hand bent passed it and to the side with a snapping sound. My heart sped up as I looked down at my hand that held my key, to see only part of it-making my eyes travel over to the ignition to see the other end of my key broken off, and not where I can use my claws to get to it. "Son of a bitch!" I cursed loudly, before punching the steering wheel and making it bend slightly, my anger only rising.
I locked my car from the inside as I grabbed my stuff and got out, slamming the door shut behind me and headed towards the random gas station that was next to the parking lot. Once I got inside, I noticed no one was inside which freaked me out considering they always watch my every move in the store; like they think I'm going to steal something. "Hello?" I called out, my voice echoing throughout the place, making me shiver slightly. "Anyone here?" I asked, my head swiveling around as I looked for someone, anyone, yet there wasn't a single soul in this building, let alone block. The place was deserted.
As soon as I turned around to look at the counter, I hear fighting; growling, yelling, and incoherent words all jumbled together towards the end of the store behind me, making me whip my head around. I didn't see a store, heck, I wasn't even in one. I was in the middle of an ice rink, with people around me throwing punches and kicks with their faces morphed, and claws extended.
I went to step in between them, but I couldn't-I went right through them, like they weren't really there. "Hey!" I yelled, my eyes scanning their faces as they fought. "Scott?" I questioned as I recognized one of the faces as Allison's boyfriend, but the others never rang a bell.
But the odd thing about this place was behind the glass in the dark, were two glowing eyes-grey, glowing eyes. Faintly I saw the silhouette of a human, but something was off. It had a tail behind it with a giant knot in the middle, with large claws sticking out of its shoes. The more I watched it, the more I recognized the figure. I realized something that very moment, and I couldn't believe it-that person-that thing-was me. I was looking at myself.
A/N I just wanted to let you guys know that even when this book is done, I WILL STILL BE EDITING! I constantly find errors or better ways to do things so I will be overlooking them a lot. And once it is finished, it would be listed as completed at the most a year later, and at the least a week.
