Dangerous Assumptions

Chapter 6(:

The sound of crying pierced Louis' ears and he sat up straight, practically falling off the couch. He ran his hands through his hair as he looked around, he was slowly remembering what was going on. Allie had asked him to watch Ella because she had had to rush off to see her father. He had just stayed at her home because Ella had already fallen asleep. The crying pulled him out of his thoughts. "Alright, I'm coming." Louis called out, standing up and walking to the bedroom. He opened the door and looked inside to find a crying Ella sitting on the floor. "Aw Ella." He said softly walking over and gently picking her up. The poor child must have somehow climbed over her crib and fallen. Whatever the case she was very obviously upset. Louis just held her and walked around the apartment for a little while. Nothing he tried seemed to work to calm her down. Finally he managed to make her laugh. At that moment his phone went off. Louis pulled it out of his pocket to look at the text he had just received from Allie. As promised she had sent him a long list of instructions for looking after Ella. Louis looked at his second text which was from Liam. "Just reminding you that we're filming our music video today at 12." It read Louis gaped. He had completely forgotten about that! He looked from Ella back to the text, then back at Ella once again. What was he going to do? He had just decided that he would call Vanessa when he remembered that Allie had said Vanessa was out of town. Louis sighed, Ella would just have to go with him. He didn't mind of course, but he felt sorry for Ella. He was about to get her ready when he glanced at the clock and noticed it was already twelve! That sent Louis into a panic. He forgot about everything and just quickly grabbed his car keys, carrying Ella out with him.

~ (Time Skip) ~

The lads were all getting ready to leave, they had just finished the music video, and as great as it was, it had seemed to take forever! Probably because of the small child that had been present. Ella turns out is extremely needy, at least when Allie was not around. It seemed that she could not let Louis go. She would cry every time he tried to give her to someone else so he could finish filming. One Direction's next music video would definitely be different, since in the end they had to film with Ella in it. Maybe Louis should have been upset with Ella, but it seemed that no matter how hard he tried he couldn't be. After all it really was not that big of a deal in the end... though the fans might have mixed reactions to Ella being in the video. The fans already (for some reason) hated his and Allie's relationship. So it would be interesting to get all the feedback once they saw his daughter in the music video. Louis could tell that Ella was definitely not ready to leave. Currently Liam, Harry, Zayn, and Niall were all 'oohing and awing' over her and Ella was loving all the attention. At the moment Harry was holding the small child and she was finding amusement by pulling his hair. Louis walked over and put his arm around Harry's shoulder. "Alright Harry, you have to hand her over now." He said, much to the disappointment of Harry. Ella was perfectly content with being handed back over to Louis, who tossed her up in the air playfully. The child laughed in delight "gen?" She asked in her sweet little voice.

"Someone's enjoying being a dad." Harry said.

Louis just smiled in response, he was too preoccupied with Ella. After a little longer of talking with the other lads they parted ways, well except for Niall who decided to hang out with Louis and Ella for a day.

~ (Time Skip) ~

Louis, Ella, and Niall had spent practically the rest of the day at the mall, which they were still at. Louis turned out to be a total pushover. Whatever Ella seemed to like he would buy for her, if she even simply pointed at something, he would buy it for her. They had so much stuff with them by now both boys were completely weighed down with bags. So they had decided to stop and get something to eat. At least at a restaurant there would not be anything for Louis to buy Ella except food.

"What do you think Allie is going to say when she sees all of this stuff?" Niall asked leaning back in his chair.

Louis shook his head. "I'm not ready to think about that yet." He said and Niall only laughed. Louis was sure that if he were to buy just one more item there would not be any room in his car for them to sit.

"She's going to be spoiled if she spends any more time with you." Niall commented, and Louis did not try and deny it. He had never thought he would be such a pushover, but Ella had him so easily wrapped around her little finger. It was probably a good thing that he was only watching Ella for about two days, otherwise who knows what he would end up buying for her.

It was quite a while after the trio had finished their food, but they were still sitting at the restaurant, talking. Louis was mid-sentence when a very timid waitress approached them. "I'm really sorry... but well you did pay two hours ago, and it would be fine, but we are really short on tables..." She trailed off. It probably was not easy for her to basically kick them out. Louis did not really mind since he was ready to leave anyways. Ella had been out all day and he could tell she was getting a little tired. So he just nodded, picking Ella up and walking out with Niall.

For the most part One Directions fans in London had gotten used to seeing them walking around the mall and stuff, so it was not very out of the ordinary. Of course there were those moments when a few random fans really got excited seeing them. This proved to be one of those moments. As soon as they had walked a little ways from the restaurant several of their fans stopped them and begged for some pictures, and autographs. Louis and Niall were used to the attention by now so they took the time to stop and take a few pictures with the fans. Louis set Ella down for just a brief moment while he signed his autograph. Just for a few minutes, then the few girls left and Louis turned to pick Ella back up. A sudden surge of panic ran through him when he did not find her beside him.

"Niall where's Ella?" He asked Niall panicked. Allie left him in charge for two days and he had already lost Ella? This was not good.

Niall looked shocked. "I thought you had her!"

Louis shook his head and then ran his hands through his hair, stressed. "She is two! How do I manage to lose a two year old?"

"Calm down Louis, we will find her. She's two, she is probably really close." Niall said in an attempt to calm his friend down. That was hard though when he was not even calm.

"Right, right let's go look. I just can't believe I lost her! How do you manage to lose your own kid?" Louis said, more to himself than to Niall. The two decided to split up and try to cover more ground, agreeing to meet up in an hour or so. Louis was looking everywhere, but there seemed to be no sign of the child. Where could a two year old go in such a short time?
