Naomi's hand covered the foreign object and yet it still glowed. Confused, she peered up through her mascara-coated lashes, determined to meet the eyes of her competitor. Her breath hitched slightly as her scrutinizing eyes met orange and black where there should have been blue, green or brown, and she arched an eyebrow in confusion. Was he wearing contact lenses? What Naomi might have guessed was a similar expression to hers was adorned on the face that was merely inches from her's as she knew that orange and black had met green and purple, and blue and yellow. The pair remained crouched over the shen gong wu as questions fluttered through each of their minds, but it was Naomi who spoke first, 'I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown.'
Her knees were gradually going numb from the snow that embellished the vast mountaintops despite being dressed specifically for the chilling temperatures she was enduring, and so she straightened out slowly- cautiously- still holding the wu, as if the man in front of her would pull a fast one. To her surprise, he stood also and watched her through intrigued eyes. 'I wager my reversing mirror,' Naomi could just make out the sound of a series of awed gasps and the cry of 'So that's where that went!' coming from somewhere behind her and she knew that they had an audience, 'against your...' she paused; did this guy have any wu? 'Serpeant's Tail... though I will not compete with such trinkets.' Naomi's face twisted into a look of irritation. How arrogant did you have to be to actually announce before the showdown had even started that you weren't going to use wu? And how arrogant did you have to be to call shen gong wu 'trinkets'?
Naomi scowled and her voice turned harsher than she'd intended, 'Well that's great, Romeo, neither will I, but we still have to wager something.' A voice from the distance echoed through the white mounds- it was high pitched and oozed pure confusion and desperation.'Who is Romeo? Does she not know that that is Chase Young?!' Naomi smirked. So this was the infamous Chase Young? This was the face of pure evil? It was a nice face. 'The game is martial arts tag- pretty self explanatory; first to land a hit wins.' The spectators in the distance groaned. 'She's toast!' one of them announced. At that, she turned around to face her critics and flip them off, though she was surprised to see how far away they were- sound really does travel through open spaces- and she guessed they wouldn't be able to see the unkindly gesture and so turned back around.
Whilst doing so, her medallion- painted to look like the Yin and Yang symbol- broke free from the warm protection of her winter coat. Chase's eyes lingered on it for a few moments and Naomi mistook it for him checking her out- which, in all honesty, she would've found quite flattering- before looking down herself. She smiled as her pendant caught the sunlight and glistened, as it reflected the light off into the distance, and she was instantly reminded of her fast day of training. Her master had been both fierce and understanding, and it had been the first time she had seen her step- sister in years.
A hiss echoed around the landscape, as well as a loud whirring sound. "I can't see!" The voice panicked in a high soprano whine. Naomi's eyes averted from Chase's to find a ghastly pale boy, in a contrasting long jet black jacket, and a purple mist to his side hovering towards them. The boy's eyes were lined with a shade that matched his jacket, he had spiked, blood red hair- his hairline hidden by a pair of primarily yellow goggles, and two propellers protruded from behind his shoulders. "Aww, man." He cried with a sour pout, "I swear, if it wasn't for those Xiaolin losers, I might actually get to the wu first for once!" Chase rolled his eyes, apparently aware of the identity of the newcomer. The silence was broken once again by a raspy croak, "Well maybe if you stopped depending on you're worthless machines, you'd get somewhere on time for once!" As the two approached, a face seemed to appear out of the haze.
Naomi's eyes darted back to the dark haired man with body armor. 'Let's go. Xiaolin Showdown!' The two exclaimed.
