Grade 3, Eight years ago...

You had only attended the school for about a week. Having only just moved into town, you didn't have many friends. Sure you knew some kids your age, but you hadn't known them for long enough, or talked to them enough to really be able to call yourself their friend.

There was this one kid, you were pretty sure his name was Wonwoo. He shared a desk with you, but you hadn't said more than a few words to him.
He seemed like a quiet kid, always having this vacant look on his rather attractive young face.
It was a look that made you feel like he was thinking about something important and you shouldn't disturb him.

After about a week of just drifting through the school days, you were starting to get into the routine of it.

Everyday-

Wake up.

Brush teeth and wash face.

Take hair out of the braids you slept in and tie it into a ponytail.

Eat breakfast and get on the bus.

Watch a boy from the next grade up threaten to throw Wonwoo's lunch out the bus window.

"What are you doing?"

You're not quite sure how it happened, but you suddenly found yourself face-to---chest, with Seungcheol, someone you'd never talked to before, and only seen on the bus and sometimes around the schoolyard.

Yelling in his face, or chest, as the case may be, was probably not the best first impression to leave, but you didn't figure he'd remember it, or you for that matter, in the long run so you didn't care.

He was a good five inches taller than you, causing you to have to crane your neck upwards in order to look in his eyes, due to your close proximity.

"Mind your business, kid." He said, looking down on you with most condescending smirk you'd ever seen from someone only a year or two older than you.

You were confused as to why anyone would pick on Wonwoo. He never seemed to bother anyone. He just kinda sat there and didn't do much.

That's why you had gone over to try to help. You hadn't really thought it through, confronting someone like the boy in front of you.

Why was he being mean to Wonwoo?

Wonwoo didn't deserve that.

Not from what you had seen at least.

Seungcheol just stood there, waiting for your next move. It felt like he was taunting you, and it was making you mad.

"Give him his lunch back, Seungcheol. Don't be a meanie."  You're not even sure why you got involved with this.  You weren't even friends with Wonwoo.

It was too late to just sit back down now.

"I'm a meanie?"  He scoffed, "Take a seat princess, you don't seem to understand how things work.  Around here, I'm in charge. I suggest you try to remember that in the future."

He said all this with the same smirk, which turned into an almost proud smile at the end of his mini-tangent, puffing his chest out with what seemed to be some sort of self admiration and false confidence.

What was up with this guy? He's in grade 4, not high school. Only big kids can say stuff like that.

Wonwoo watched all that was going on between you two with a quiet indifference, while also keeping an eye on his lunch, still being dangled out the window by your new opponent.
