The sky was bright blue, not a cloud in sight. I sighed and headed off to school. I held my head high and smiled. It honestly was a beautiful day! My dad was working at the towers. The best place on earth! Those towers are huge! I love going to the top floor and looking down at all the people. They look like little ants!
I stared at the sun, which was burning my head. It was super sunny, and since there were no clouds in the sky, it was going to be extremely hot! The pavements made it feel like I was walking on the sun. I turned to see a dog with a woman trailing behind it. It's tongue flopped out and waved around. Not the cutest, but still a pretty dog.
....
My eyes closed as my head hit my hands, which were acting like my pillow. I slowly drifted off until I felt someone shake me. I glanced up and gave a sleepy yawn.
"Yeah?" I moaned
"Sally! Look outside!" The boy pointed to the smoke that was coating the sky, making it a dark grey.
I slowly stood up and scooted over to the window, I looked up and saw the top half of one of the towers collapse. Tears swelled in my eyes and I held my hands in fists. I turned around a shouted to the class.
"My dad's working there!" I took off running out of the room, down the hallway, and to the main doors.
I pushed open the doors and charged outside. The towers weren't to far away so if I ran fast enough I could make it. I took all my energy and ran as fast as I could.
....
The crowd threw and tossed me around as I made my way to the front. There were firemen and policemen charging right into the flames. I coughed and hacked as the black air made it's way into my body. Which was standing at the front of the crowd. Staring at the towers. I clenched my fists and cursed under my breathe. My dad was in there, and I needed to save him!
I took a step over the caution tape. I felt a million heads turn towards me. I was embarrassed, sure, but I was doing this for someone I cared about! Every part of me told me to turn back, that I was just running to death with my arms wide open. But I took another step, then another, and another. I soon broke off into a sprint, gasps came from the crowd. I didn't care though, I didn't care what anyone thought about me, and what I was doing. The only thing that I cared about was my dad, and I needed to save him!
....
The smoke swirled around me. My head started spinning as I stumbled towards the towers. I heard screams with every step I took. The world seemed to flip upside down. I clenched my fists tighter, urging myself to go on. I knew I was going to die. I felt a hand grab my shoulder and I slowly turned my head.
"Where do you think you're going?" The police man asked.
"U-Um, I forgot something. It's right outside the towers. I need to get it," I stuttered.
"You'll need this," He tossed me a firemen's jacket, hat, boots, mask, and pants.
"O-O-Oh, th-th- thanks!" I muttered.
I wasn't surprised that he let me go in. I look a LOT more like I'm 18 then 11. He probably thought that I was a firemen. But, whatever, as long as I got in.
I shoved on the outfit before you could say "cheese and crackers". Smoke clouded up my mask, making it hard to see. But at least I could breathe without hacking and coughing. Debris came flying out everywhere. I broke off into a run. I decided it was best to hurry up. So I dodged and ran, dodged and ran, is what I did for at least 3 minuets before I got to the entrance.
I put all my weight on that door as it flew open. I took a few steps and cringed. I saw dead burning bodies everywhere. There were firemen dragging them out. I noticed the elevator tucked behind a hunk of metal. I gathered up whatever energy was left in me and hauled it off the door. I took a look at the elevator I suddenly had second thoughts, but I urged myself to move on. So my pried open the door and slammed a few buttons with my fist. The elevator shot upward, which caught me off guard, so I flew down to the floor and slammed my head. But I had the helmet on so it didn't hurt.
I slowly grabbed the bar and stood up. The elevator came to a stop. I pried the doors open again to see flames surrounding the area. I gave myself a brisk nod. It was now or never. I ran out into the flames. I heard someone screaming. My cheeks started burning. That was my dad screaming! I ran off in the direction of the noise. I clung onto my chest as my heart pounded. He was going to die! We were going to die!
Everything did flips and cartwheel's with every step I took. I glanced up to see my dad covered with flames, his hair and nice work clothes matted with blood. Tears rolled down my blood stained cheeks as I rushed over. He collapsed to the ground and looked up at me.
"There's no point in saving me now, go save yourself," He muttered as he drifted off into his eternal sleep.
