Night Drive is a short story we read in school, and we had to rewrite the ending to it as one of the assignments. I liked how mine turned out, so I published it on here for fun :3

(Starting from) He was a black shape against a lighted background. And the shape changed- very gradually and very terribly- from that of a tall and well-made young man favouring an injured leg, to a crouched horror which was remained, but one of the arms moved slowly, and it came back into a silhouette holding something drawn from a hiding place. It was a bludgeon, a club, a thing which to batter in lustful frenzy at a body helpless to resist any longer. The hand held it, swayed it gently back and forth, making ready...

Then a voice came. But the voice was wholly human, and humorously appealing, and productive of stark hysteria because it told of cunning past all madness.

"Amazing how you fell into my trap, isn't it?" said the voice softly, but dangerously all the same, "And I get two victims for the price of one!"

Madge sat as still as a rock in the car, listening carefully, her eyes wide as she watched, and her mind blank. She watched Mr. Tabor, hoping that he knew exactly what he was going to do and what was going to happen.

But what happened next, Mrs. Haley was sure, was nothing of what Mr. Tabor expected, and nor did she. It happened so fast. The creature that was supposed to be Bob growled, and lunged at Mr. Tabor. Madge opened her mouth wide to let out a terrified scream, but nothing came out. She heard Mr. Tabor yelling and shouting. She covered her eyes, horrified at what was happening, but she could hear the loud thumps of the dangerous creature's bludger hitting something, and by the sound of it, that something had just gone limp.

Madge gasped, unable to say anything. Suddenly, she heard a long, loud howl and a soft voice said,

"Mrs. Haley, there's no escape now," but this time the voice was not only soft, it was deeper and had a slight rasp to it, "You're next.

Mrs. Haley heard the sound of thundering paws slamming at the ground. They grew louder and louder. Out of nowhere, Madge slammed her foot on the gas pedal and put her hands on the steering wheel and drove as far as she could, away from the sound of running paws. But when she thought she had lost track of the werewolf, her ears picked up the faint sound of...could it be? Yes, it was the sound of a motorcycle. And it was coming nearer and nearer. Madge drove faster, unsure of where to go. Her mind was racing, but not faster than her heart. Then it came to her. The police station! Of course, that should have been the first place to come to her mind, but I could imagine it would be slightly difficult to think about anything when you're being chased by an out-of-control werewolf in the middle of the night.

As Madge heard the werewolf's blood curdling howl once more, and a shiver ran down her spine, she neared the police station. Checking the rearview mirror once more to see if she would have enough time, she confirmed that she would be able to run into the police station and take cover. From there, she did not know what might happen, but she hoped for the best.

Ms. Haley quickly and clumsily turned into the police station and wrenched open the door of her car. She sprinted to the door, flung it open, and rushed to the nearest police officer she saw, screaming,

"WEREWOLF,WEREWOLF, THERE'S A WEREWOLF OUTSIDE! HE'S ABOUT TO COME IN! PLEASE BELIEVE ME-"

But before she could finish, the police station door was flung open once more, and the sight of the ugly, drooling, hairy, yellow-eyed, hunch-backed werewolf standing in the doorway, growling, with a hungry look in his eyes, could have made anyone scream until their voice went hoarse.

The police officers on the room were frozen on the spot. Suddenly, the werewolf lunged at one of them, trying to sink it's sharp, pointy teeth into the poor officer's neck. Luckily, the other officers moved quickly, and pulled their guns out of their pockets. They shot at the werewolf, and on the third shot, which was aimed right at the hairy beast's heart, killed it. The werewolf went limp, and it changed, right there in front of Ms. Haley and all the officer's eyes, back to the form Bob from the filling station, now dead. The officer of which the werewolf had attacked quickly crawled out from under it, terrified. Everyone was speechless.

The story of exactly what happened to Mrs. Tabor, the unknown girl, Mr. Tabor, and Bob was, of course, published in the news, and it was all told by Ms. Haley, because she was the only one who was alive that knew exactly what happened. She was questioned many times to tell her story, and she was even given an award for bravery and courage. But, about a month later, Madge moved out of town to live somewhere else. Somewhere far away and peaceful. She just couldn't handle living there anymore. Even though she hadn't witnessed Mr. Tabor being murdered, she had been there when it happened. That had given her the biggest shock. After that, she was never the same. She was very jumpy, and could be scared by any little thing. She also never, ever drove alone at night anymore. The move was for the best, but she would never forget the last town she lived in, nor would the people of that town ever forget her.
