Chapter 8
Annabeth
I woke up to the sound of Percy taking a shower as I climbed out of bed. I got dressed, putting on my camp t-shirt and some jeans, pulling my hair up into a ponytail. I looked at myself in self-consciousness, how was Percy in to me? I was a scrawny, pale girl with messy blonde hair and grey boring eyes.
Before I could continue, Percy walked in, his jet black hair wet and messy as he dried it with a towel. He smiled at me as he grabbed me by the waist and took me into his arms as I asked, "So do you think we're in trouble with Hedge cause' we slept together again?"
"Nah," replied Percy
"No one's been paying us much attention since Nico's death, I guess they're trying to keep everything low-key."
I nodded, still a little unconvinced. Percy and I headed to the main floor of the Argo II to join the others in the dining hall. Everyone's faces were sad and gloomy, with dark under eyes showcasing how little sleep they had. I felt a pit of sadness as the reality of last nights event replayed in my head. Me and Percy held hands as we sat down at our seats for a breakfast of eggs and bacon, Greek yogurt and orange juice. No one spoke as we all ate hastily.
Finally, Percy spoke,"So Leo, where's our next stop?"
"Well," Leo said
"We've arrived in Greece and we'll be stopping shortly after breakfast. Then we're going to set off to find the historic roots of Olympus right here in Greece, this will help us in defeating Gaea, with the gods of Olympus' help."
"Have any of them begun helping us?" I asked
Frank frowned,"Nope, not any from Rome. I was hoping that maybe my dad would've helped but, that's outta the question." He sighed as Hazel comforted him.
Percy looked at me. Neither of our parents were going to help either. My mother was going completely insane because she's in between both of her forms, Greek and Roman. She hasn't been easy to talk to lately. Things haven't been going well between Percy and Poseidon either.
Poseidon hasn't contacted Percy in over a year, and he's noticed that the sea has become untamed lately and that some of the ancient sea gods and monsters might be rising to destroy Poseidon. I felt bad for Percy because while he was speaking of this, his eyes started to tear up. Him and his father had become a lot closer over the years and he was now sincerely worried for his father's well-being.
"Well we better get going," said Jason as we all finished our meal, freshened up and then headed outside.
Greece was spectacular. I awed at the amazing architecture and the stunning hills and sea. Percy took me by the hand as I stood there in awe and said,"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yes, the architecture in Rome and Greece is crazy amazing" I stammered
"Well I was thinking, while we're here, we should probably have a little fun too." he replied mischeviously
I gave him a quizzical look. What was he talking about? Soon enough, Percy said farewell to the group as they smiled, were they in on this too? The two of us ran and climbed extremely high until we reached a small cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, the homes behind us, including a forest.
Percy smiled at me as I looked over at the view, my hair blowing in the wind as salty air filled my lungs. This was just perfect. Percy and I sat down on the cliff, just staring at the view. Then all of the sudden, he took me by the arm, beckoning me to stand up. As I stood up I realized it was a mistake. Percy clasped his hands on my waist as he lunged for the ocean.
I let out a small scream as we plunged below the surface. I gasped for breath as water filled my lungs. I was so unprepared for this. As my lungs decreased in oxygen, Percy kissed me as he pulled us both down into an underwater cave. I gasped as we entered the cave and Percy said,"You can breath now, there's oxygen here."
I took a deep breath and then asked,"How is this possible? We're in the middle of the ocean and I'm able to breath? That's crazy?! And how did you find this place?"
"There are a lot of strange secrets under the sea, and this one I happened to know about. I found out through an ancient riddle:
A small cavern you will find,
beneath a Greek ancient time,
there you will seek air,
under the sea of Greece"
"Wow," I said
"Anyway," he continued, a cute smile played on his lips
"Let's have some fun"
