Chapter 27

Annabeth

"What do you think about this bouquet for the tables Percy?"

Percy walked over to me from the couch, leaning down to view the picture I had on my laptop, previously owned by Daedalus. He smiled, and replied, "I don't know much about flowers, but I can honestly say that those are the prettiest flowers I've ever seen. They'll be perfect for the reception." I laughed at his comment, never in my life have I heard Percy compliment flowers, but I guess that he was so excited about the wedding that he was completely over-enthusiastic, about everything.

We were due to have our wedding in 9 months, but being the organized person I was, I had already made the guest list, found the businesses to purchase my bouquets, tapestries and tableclothes, as well as the venue, the caterer, and purchasing sweet, delicate grey invitations for the guests. So you could say I was pretty well prepared, but I still wasn't even half done everything needed. Overall, we were doing great on our planning. But tonight, me and Percy were going to take a break from planning, and have a wonderful dinner date together.

Percy

The last couple of months, ever since I proposed to Annabeth, she immediately began planning our wedding ceremony. So, I've been trying my best to help in every way I can. However, tonight, I'm giving her a break and treating her to dinner. Since my job is doing extremely well, and all financial plans for our wedding are stable, I thought a nice dinner would give us both some time to relax and spend time with each other. With all the work Annabeth is doing, especially with her new job in interior design, she definitely needs a break.

Around 5:30, Annabeth and I made our way to the restaurant for our dinner reservations. I hop in my fairly new car, making our way to the dinner for 6:15. Once we arrived, I could see Annabeth slightly grinning as she stared up at the huge pillars and ginormous golden doors. We walked in and the smell of delicious steak, boiled vegetables and something like Pad Thai wafted through the air. The place smelled and looked amazing. After a few minutes of waiting for the table to set up, we arrived at our table and began to flip through the never-ending menu, filled with all sorts of things. Ranging from steak and potatoes, to a salad with over 5 types of greens, dressed with cranberry sauce and fruit.

Once we had ordered, I couldn't stop smiling at Annabeth. She looked so happy to finally be able to just relax and not stress, it felt good to finally spend some real time with my fiancé. We laughed, we talked, and we certainly couldn't stop smiling.

Once we were done our meal, it was pretty dark outside, so we hopped in my car and headed through the busy streets of Manhattan. After a few moments of silence, Annabeth spoke, "You know, Percy, I just wanted to tell you that, I'm really glad I'm getting married to you. It just feels, refreshing to know that you're gonna be here for the rest of my life and I for you. I'm just really happy that my wishes have finally come true, I guess." she smiled. I gave a small chuckle, as well as a laugh, "I feel the same way, Wise Girl. And I can't wait to marry you, and have my first time with you an- "Wait," she stopped me mid-sentence
"First time? Why would you say that?"
I swallowed hard, finding the conversation beginning to get awkward, "Well it's just that, I really like you and I think it'd be.....er....nice or, uh...fun to-to have that experience wi-with you." I gulped nervously as we parked outside my apartment complex. Annabeth nodded her head, not even saying a word as she jumped out of the car and just went up to my apartment. Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said? I was just being honest as to what I was feeling...

We still didn't have a house so we were still living in my parents apartment. I found Annabeth already inside, getting ready for bed as my mother sat on the couch with Paul. Boy, it had been a long night. It was fun, until, I guess, I said the wrong thing. As I lay in bed with Annabeth, she barely even whispered goodnight or gave me a peck on the lips as soon as I hit the mattress. I guess we'd have to talk about it tomorrow, or sometime this week. Or month. Or year. Or decade. Or even better, the next century.
