Kageyama knew, for starters, that he was already too far gone. As much as he wished for his feelings for Hinata to just...disappear...they wouldn't. And he knew that, so why was he here two hours after everyone else had left, the sound of volleyballs resounding in his ears; the sting of the rubber material fresh on his hands? Only for Hinata, his mind replied. Blush rose to his cheeks and consequently his set was slightly off. That, in turn, resulted in a 'bang!' and a high-pitched yelp from the other side of the court. Hinata, who had been practicing his receiving, was now splayed out on the polished gym floor.

"Hinata? Hinata, you idiot!" Kageyama yelled across the room, despite knowing all too well it was his own fault. Hinata sat up, massaging the bridge of his nose.

"I think...my nose...ow"

"-I think it's broken"

"Are you sure?"

"I don't know, bakageyama!!"

Kageyama stood silently by the net for a few seconds before jogging towards the storeroom cupboard, suddenly hit with an idea. Hinata, who suddenly felt very exposed in the empty gym, staggered to his feet and ran after Kageyama.

Hinata slammed the storeroom door behind him. The bang was amplified in the echoey room, interrupting Kageyama's frantic searching. His head whipped round to face Hinata, before his line of vision slowly dragged to the completely shut door.

"You...the door. You- shut the door."

"I did, yes."

"We don't have the key"

Hinata's usually ardent features turned slack with realisation, his mouth forming a soft 'O' shape, which, admittedly, Kageyama found quite cute.

They both face palmed.

"So...we're stuck in here...until morning?"

Kageyama sighed in conformation and after a while turned round to assume his searching. He pulled out a small first aid box

"Why did you even follow me here, stupid Hinata?" He scolded, mostly speaking to himself. He pulled out a small ice pack that looked relatively faded and used, but good all the same.

Hinata sat himself down on the cramped floor opposite Kageyama, knowing the drill too well. He found himself injured quite often, much to Kageyama's concern.

Hinata tilted his head into Kageyama's touch which made Kageyama jolt back slightly in surprise. Oh, he realised, Hinata didn't return his feelings, so gestures like this would go unnoticed. Hinata would never return his feelings, which was fine because in time they would fade, so Kageyama grit his teeth as he pressed the ice pack to Hinata's upturned nose. The smaller replaced Kageyama's hold on the pack and brang his gaze back down to the floor, snivelling

"I wish they had hot water bottles in here instead of ice-packs"

Kageyama glanced at Hinata, the words bringing him out of his slump. Sure enough, he seemed to be shivering - not very violently but enough to make Kageyama's 'protect Hinata' instincts kick in. Without hesitation, he pulled off his precious black sports jersey and draped it over Hinata's head and shoulders. Kageyama lay back on some stacked books (probably forgotten textbooks) and tried to close his eyes when his brain was still very much awake.

To Kageyama's expectations, soon enough one drowsy eye had to be forced open to investigate the clattering sounds coming from the other side of the room (not that it was big enough to be a room). He wasn't even surprised to find Hinata tangled in between mops and buckets. His jersey had already been discarded on the ground, much to his dismay.
