Chapter Two

Caribbean stood at the gates of the house she once called home. She thought she would at least feel a small twist in her stomache. But instead felt nothing. Nothing but anger. Hate. Betrayal. Fury. She had a new need. Not a need for love, no, she had survived 2 long years without that. Not for trust. Not for family, she knew she had none. Caribbean had a new need for revenge. She had wanted revenge before, but this was different.

Before, Caribbean had wanted the ones that raised her to feel as she had. She wanted them to feel empty inside, lonely. Caribbean had wanted them to feel as saddened as she was. She wanted them to be in such despair. And she promised herself she would make them feel as she had felt. And if someone or something got in her way, she would have no mercy.

Catherine cried, looking at the picture of the daughter she once had. She knew that she and her husband had made her daughter's life into a mess. Finding out that the two people you once called your parents were not actually yours. When Caribbean had left, it had taken a toll on Catherine's life. It had taken a toll on everyone's lives.

Caribbean was a very much loved girl. She was kind, caring, sweet, protective, and loyal. That was the reason she had so many friends. That was the reason everybody loved her.

Her smile could light up an entire city that had no light. Her eyes, oh, her eyes. They had been so kind. So gentle. But that had changed.

When Caribbean had found out about them not being her biological parents, all Catherine could see was hatred. There was no kindness. There was no happiness. And most importantly, there wasn't a glimmer of love.

Austin was buzzing with excitement. He had finally gotten what his wife wanted. Austin had finally gotten what Catherine wanted.

He was excited, but nervous. He was nervous about her reaction. What if he had gotten the wrong one? Would she yell? Would she hug him? Would she miss him? Would she finally show him the affection he had been craving for the past two years?

Austin was sitting in the drivers seat of his black Jeep. He didn't know whether to go inside their home and give Catherine his surprise, or wait until tonight.

He decided to give it to her now. Austin reached over to the passenger seat and grabbed the puppy by its scruff gently. It squealed in surprise as Austin opened his door so he could get out.

The puppy was light brown in color, with white markings on its underbelly. The pup was a male. Austin had chosen the biggest pup of the litter. He had seen the puppy running around, barking, and bossing the other puppies around.

Austin just hoped that Catherine would love it. She needed a distraction. Ever since Caribbean left, Catherine had been distant. Very distant. It made him angry. Caribbean was the one to blame. Austin tightened his hold on the puppy. The pup whimpered and started to wiggle around, trying to get free of Austin's now iron grip hold. The puppy whimpered again.

Austin, coming out of his daze, loosened his grip on the poor animal, "I'm sorry, boy. She just makes me so angry."

The puppy barked in understanding. Austin smiled. I'm going to like this pup. He seems to get me. Maybe I'll get Catherine something else. He thought.

Then he realized he was being selfish. He had wanted to go out and find something for Catherine, but instead he returned with something of his own.
