AN: Minor homophobia warnings, yo. If that kind of thing bothers you, it'd be best for you to skip this. Ai'ght, leggo.
She's not yours. Stop looking at her like that. Stop talking to her! She isn't yours! Amethyst watched, across the small cafe as (Y/N) smiled timidly at one of her customers. Some dumb tourist most likely, but that didn't matter. What mattered was how much he was flirting with (Y/N). Amethyst clenched the table tightly, it was the only thing she could do to prevent herself from getting up and punching the bastard. Leave her alone. Stop talking! She doesn't even like boys! I know this because I'm the only one she told! She didn't tell you that, so leave her alone. Amethyst's thoughts were a storm of jealousy and bitterness.
(Y/N) flashed her prize winning smile before leaving for the kitchen. Amethyst was torn between quite a few things. While she loved watching (Y/N) walk, the way her hips swished when she turned was a blessing, she carefully stared down the man who had been shamelessly flirting with her. She watched his eyes travel past (Y/N)'s waist, going dangerously low, before turning back to his table when she left. Amethyst swore on her life that if she were ever alone with anyone who looked at her (Y/N) like that, she would kill them.
Soon, (Y/N) came back out holding a small tray in one hand. On one side of the tray, a hot chocolate and a slice of cake, which Amethyst immediately recognized to be her order, and a sandwich on the other side. (Y/N) handed the mans sandwich down to him and stepped to Amethysts table before he could get a word in.
"Hey Ame," (Y/N) whisperd, setting down Amethysts food with much more care than she had set the sandwich down with, something Amethyst noticed immediately. "You look upset, do you need anything?" Amethyst shook her head no. Talking would be a dead give away to how angry she really was. "Ok. Well, if you need anything, anything at all, Ame," (Y/N) trailed off, holding the tray close to her. Amethyst took note of how hard she was squeezing the tray, so much so that her knuckles had turned white. "If you need anything, I'm right here. I always am." With that (Y/N) turned and rushed back into the kitchen. Amethyst sighed softly as she removed her hands from the wooden table. She had bent up the wood quite a lot, and told herself she'd fix it before (Y/N)'s shift was over.
Amethyst picked up the hot chocolate, drinking it quickly. It reminded her a lot of the night the two of them had spent snowed in at the cafe. They hadn't been nearly as close as they were now. Amethyst had marked down that night as the night she gained feelings for (Y/N). It had easily become one of her most treasured memories.
"How are you doing tonight Miss Amethyst?" (Y/N) said.
"I've been better." Amethyst muttered, burying her face in one arm, picking at the peeling paint of the table with the other. With Pearl nagging at her all the time, Peridot still missing, and the inevitability of having to face Homeworld once again, Amethyst was more than stressed.
(Y/N)'s head tilted slightly. Amethyst was a regular customer, and with her altruistic nature, (Y/N) had made a point to get to know her a better, at least enough to make more pleasant small talk. There weren't any other customers around seeing as how close it was to closing time, and since (Y/N)'s only co-worker was the graveyard shift worker, no one would be around to see her slacking off.
