He carefully picked her up and carried her back to the bed. She sighed into his chest, "Why? Why do they do this? I don't - I don't mind in a way, because I think I fell in love the first time I saw your picture, but I am so sick of having my life run by some one I never even see."

He sat down, and she curled up against him. "Who's they?"

She patted his chest, "Lie down, please, it's going to be dark soon and then I will sleep, and they will come. I want you to hold me, just, please, hold me. I'll explain as much as I can."

So he lay back, and she snuggled up against him, her back to him. He wrapped his arms around her and waited.

"Someone or something comes in at night. Well, I call it night, the lights all go out at once, and if I don't fall asleep, after a few minutes, there is a mist that knocks me out. When the lights come back on, I wake up, and my shirt has been changed, there's breakfast, and anything else that got dirty has been cleaned."

She slid her hand down, reaching between her legs to him. He tightened his grip on her. "If you only want to be held, don't do that."

In answer she continued to stroke. "May as well give them something to clean up. I think we have just enough time."

He shifted as her attentions took effect, "But, you were just crying over being manipulated, and ... what if ..."

"I don't care. All over choices taken away, this one is mine. I want you, I want what we might make, and I'm going to take you to me as much as I can before they take you away too!"

He entered her, and they moved together, then, and he felt her growing desperation, as if she might never see him again. He puzzled over this strange creature, before being lost in the rhythm.

After, they lay limply together, both glistening, and the light suddenly dimmed. Talia jerked, and turned to pull him in for a long, deep kiss, before tucking herself back against him. She pulled his arms back around her. Her head flopped against his arm, and she pushed her back into his chest.

"Darn ... conditioning. I get drowsy as soon as the lights dim now. Do something!"

He tipped his head forward and bit her shoulder. She jerked back, "Ouch!"

He kissed the spot, "Better?"

"Yeah, I'm awake now."

The lights went out completely, and she shivered. He held her tighter, and they waited. A soft hiss, and a fine mist sprayed over them. She shuddered once, and stilled in sleep. He tried to move his hand to check her pulse, but found that whatever had put her to sleep immobilized him.

Just then she breathed, and he relaxed.

Something appeared. Alden blinked, and tried to focus. Hands? What looked like slim white gloved hands appeared, but he couldn't see the rest of the persons. Whoever they were. Perhaps the room had a black light. There were four pairs of hands. Some skimmed over Talia's body, others poked and prodded his. He growled through clenched teeth, and the hands paused. One pair slid up and tapped his throat, then mouth. He let out a stifled roar, since he still couldn't move his mouth, and the hands moved away.

Another pair slid down and investigated where he was still lightly coated in fluid. They had not had time to clean up after, before the lights went out. He finally heard a sound, a kind of pleased chirp, and a swab was skimmed there as well.

The hands moved back up, and lifted his arms off of Talia. He made what noise he could, and they paused. He heard a questioning series of chirps, and ground out, "MINE"

Something very like a giggle then came, and he watched helplessly as she was lifted away.

Next he was moved, but only briefly, and then dropped back on the bed. A moment later Talia was returned, and even tucked under his arm as she had been. Again the questioning sounds, at the same time as a light touch on his throat. He hissed out a "yes" and something was done, he could open his mouth.

"What the HELL is going on?"

He felt rather than heard the response. be calm. you will both be released soon.

"But why? Let me up! And you had better not hurt her!"

He heard the giggle chirp again, and one of the hands patted him. she will not be harmed. sleep now.

Everything went black then.
