- chapter five »
ashton found it quite peculiar
how one girl
thousands of miles away
could maneuver her way
into his mind
in so little time.
his heart screamed
iris.
his heart broke
for iris.
he despised the awful human being
that was her father.
he longed to hear iris's voice,
one phone call, he begged.
but the sad, emerald eyed flower he so cared for
would refuse.
she told him it was because she didn't want her father to hear,
but he knew the real reason,
she was insecure about her voice.
how she sounded.
he knew she sounded like a angel,
but iris couldn't be convinced.
moments
passed.
ashton's phone rang.
iris,
the screen flashed.
he smiled.
"flower?"
"hi."
her voice sounded timid as she whispered,
his breath hitched.
"you have a pretty voice."
"no i don't. i sound like a muppet on steroids."
ashton chuckled, because of how untrue that was.
she sounded like beauty.
he wished he could hear it in person.
"you don't sound like a muppet, you sound like iris."
"who sounds like a muppet."
"who sounds like an angel."
"an angel muppet."
"what's with you and muppets?"
ashton asked, laughing.
"i have to go, ashton."
iris said, her voice barely a whisper.
ashton could hear glass smashing against a wall,
he could almost hear iris flinch.
he could hear her tears,
falling in trails down her face,
her green eyes becoming blurry.
her vision hazed with tears.
"iris, please. please stay strong. try and get out of there."
"he'll find me." she whispered.
