The Walk

Chapter 1: New York

Alexis couldn't control her excitement in a few moments, she would be arriving in New York city!! The captain had turned on the seatbelt sign and made a quick announcement to tell the people to get back to their seats. Alexis looked outside her window, she could see the tall skyscrapers shooting into the sky. The plane desenced onto the runway and then came to a halt. All the passengers statred to walk to the arrivals gate for Immigration and moved on to collect their luggage. Alexis did the same and went to the luggage claim. She waited for the luggage claim to bring her suitcases. Alexis had planned to move to New York ever since she finished her A- levels in Britain. Her parents didn't even think of stopping her. They knew if they argued she'd win. After picking up her suitcases, she tried getting a cab but she didn't succeed. Finally one of the yellow cabs stop in front of her, the driver got out and helped her load the luggage. " Thanks "she murmured.

They set of, "You from the U.K girly?" the cab driver asked.

"Yup, first time here though"

" Can tell by your accent and what might such a young girl be doing 8 hours from home?".

Alexis really didn't need to tell her whole story to a cabdriver so she simply replied, "I'm here to be an intern for Raelyn Christan!" Her eyes sparkled

" Big Dreams,huh. But I'll tell you, you like more like a model to me" Alexis blushed, " I think I'd rather work behind the scenes"

He laughed, " Well if that's what you want, you go do it!".

Alexis started laughing.The scenery out of the window, no longer showed city houses or the London Eye. Her view had been completely changed, looking at tall skyscrapers and the New York taxis. She hadn't realized she had been holding her breathe. They cruised through the traffic. The cab driver was entertaining and in one trip they became good friends. His name was Samuel Perkins but everyone called him Sam. He was 41 years old, with a thinning face and white hair. They finally reached Alexis new house.

"Here we are, ( make up some random adress)"

"Thank You, here you go" Alexis said handing Sam a 50$ note.

He handed it back to her. Alexis was shoked by his kind gesture, " You drove me here, I need to PAY YOU RIGHT!!"

She exclaimed. " Oh come on girly, you and me are friends now and friends don't accept money from each other." "

"But I've only known you for 30 minutes, you've earned the money from driving me from the airport"

Sam put her money back in her hand and closed her hand,"Keep you're money with you, but if you do want to pay me back, always give me ring and ill be there to pick you up and drop you. If you want ,then you can pay me how much you wait at the end of each month."

Alexis didn't know how to refuse so she agreed."Fine" she sighed, " But can you at least tell me why you're doing this?" "

"You know girly, I once came to this city with big  dreams too. They never worked out for me, because I was so arrogant, I had no friends and no support. I was broken, I then decided to help all those dreamer and help them"

Alexis smiled, " Thank You" she mouthed.

Sam helped her take out her suitecase from the trunk. He left her standing on the sidewalk.

A man walked up to her, he seemed to know her, "Hello!" He said kindly with a grin. "You must be Alexis Archer, nice to meet you." He held out his hand, Alexis gave it a shake.

Hey guys, this is my new story. I'm sorry that I haven't been updating my other two stories but I'm having technical difficulties. Wattpad isn't letting me upload chapters so will see bout the problem. Thankfully my new story is hope you enjoy reading.
