"Who is it?" I whispered to Gracie
"It's the cops, they must have been looking for the license plate." She said softly.
I didn't know what to do. My windows are tinted to the darkest legal tint so they can't see inside unless we roll the window down.
"I'm going to get in the drivers seat and we can try to make a run for it." I said trying to have courage in my voice.
I climbed over the middle console in my truck and into the drivers seat and it was right then that I realized there was a note on my windshield and the cop had driven away.
"Your truck has been here for a while, just making sure everyone is alright." The note read
We had over reacted for nothing. I had always respected the police force and all they did for society. It's a shame how people think they're the bad guys.
"Gracie, it was just a false alarm. They were just checking on us."

"Where do you think we should go?" She asked.
"Not sure, how about California?" I replied
"No, I love water too much to go there." She said
I started coughing a lot from choking on my water. "Then let's go to Iowa."
"Iowa!? What the fuck is in Iowa?
"The movie site for a baseball movie that I grew up watching." I said "If I could visit it my life would almost be made."
"Almost? Why almost? What are you missing?" Gracie asked
"Gracie Smith" I replied
A big smile appeared across her face and I knew she was happy. I had wanted to date her since the first day I met her. She always had this glow that could be seen from a mile away.
"I really want to marry you." She said
"I guess we know where we're going next then." I said with a big smile on my face
"And where would that be?" She questioned
"The courthouse" I said and off we went
