the sun hangs patiently on the afternoon sky as the clouds and its shades of colors' combinations appear creating depths in the sky. the sky is astonishingly beautiful; orange and shades of pink with the lack of blue. the color pink was tainted by the blues that it creates a hint of lilac onto the sky. she sat down beside him on the meadow surrounded by flowers of the spring. the breeze flow onto their skin with little pirouettes as the grass whisper to their ears its deepest secrets they both couldn't manage to understand. he opened his brown leather sketchbook and his fingertips grazed onto the empty space that was soon going to be filled with his messy sketches.
she observed him. she observed him comprehensively; as if her eyes was a person painting his figure on a big blank canvas. her green orbs lingered to his features and that she couldn't bear to take her eyes off of him. she studied his every move; how he grips the wooden pencil tightly between his thumb and index finger, how his eyebrows narrowed down when he adds the tiny details on his drawing, or how he crinkles when he accidentally made the wrong stroke and how his eyes are so fixated on his piece. she fell in love with his every parts. if he was a book, she would fell in love with every letter, every single words, she would memorize every paragraphs like it's her favorite song.
he would always admire her. if he was to describe her, there isn't enough vocabularies inside his dictionary to paint a portrait of her with words.
she was mesmerizing in every way, the faint glimmer of the afternoon sun ghosted over her pale skin and eyes as deep as the heart of the sea. and when those eyes shifted and finally acknowledged his presence, a surge of understanding had calmed and further mystified him at the same time. for the moment he first laid eyes on her, he knew that there is something about her. he wasn't sure what it made him beyond amazed by her. he just couldn't figure it out, because little did he know what love feels like.he placed his focus back to the portrait, his eyes closed for a while as he tried to feel more than to see. he took his time drawing her features and the details of her outline; a fairly detailed outline. he applied pressure onto the paper and he shades her iris very carefully, not wanting to mess the piece. he left some space on her eye to show the sense of reflection. by the time he finished the last stroke of her portrait, he was almost satisfied with the piece. as he placed back his stationaries to its place, her head was peaking through to see the portrait.
"it's breath taking, luke" she said as her eyes flickered up and down on the sketch, earning a smile on his face and his dimples popped up on his face. she trace down the lines with her fingers following the sketch's outline delicately.
he picked out a daisy just right beside him and slipped it to the back of her ear. but she took it off and hold it between her index finger.
"you know, i always wish to be a flower," she said.
"why?"
"can i tell you something luke?" he slowly nodded. she took a deep breathe, "i like a lot of things, love even, but my entire life have i never knew what love is or what it feels like."
she paused and bowed her head down and her fingers tangled between each other, a habit of hers when that show signs of nervousness.
"-i love flowers, you love flowers, everyone loves flowers, and i think that is why i love spending my afternoon here you know? i-i guess what i'm trying to say is that i just want to know what is it like to be loved, " she babbled. tears that had threatened to fall, spilled one by one. she hates herself for it, she hate it that she couldn't manage to hold herself anymore. for all she know she can burst into a tsunami by the minute.
luke knew was suppose to say something but he was just utterly confused. what he didn't understand is that how could someone looks so happy while her insides is wrecked that it replicates broken glass stuck onto her chest.
"violet?" he then raised her chin up as his fingers wiping her tears from her cheeks and he adjust his sight into her eyes.
"i bet you're the prettiest flower in the meadow." he said forming a weak smile on her lips.
