The Lost and Found
In east New Orleans on a scorching summer night,
She drove up into a dark ally and was full of thick fright,
She claimed it was to keep her alive,
As she traded her dollars for addictions that night,
She got lost in a game and lost the one,
Who she should have been trying to save,
They whisked him away and she blames all things,
Whispers to the night that it's everyone else,
Sticks and stones are thrown her way,
Her family cries and pleas for her to change her horrific ways,
But all she does is say,
The streets scare me away, but the monster makes me stay.
She tries to rid all of the pain, but it's her addiction that keeps the pain so close and yet so far away,
One sunny New Orleans day,
She woke up and realized she lost everything because she chose not to change her way,
Walked up to the cure and signed her name,
Life would be different when she would rid of all of her broken ways,
Ten year in Louisiana it would take,
But she swear to herself all of those pains had to go far away,
She never wanted to her golden bells, Ding, ding and see people dressed in black,
Because most from her past ended that way,
Her hard work paid off when she picked up her phone and when he asked for her name,
She lost herself in smile because today was the day,
I found you now and I know you made many mistakes,
I forgive you for everything because that was yesterday,
Just come towards my way and I'll love you 'til the end of my days, Mom.
One New Orleans day,
A lost woman found her way to the happiness she thought was never coming her way.
