Chapter 1

I am the daughter of the society. A proud face of our country's law and order since I was able to talk. Since I am the only daughter and child of the Alpha, I will soon become the queen, the Kaapa. My father will bring in 12 men for a competition, to become the country's Alpha. This brilliant, handsome man will also become my husband. I, being the wondrous daughter of the Alpha have its setbacks. I was never able to go to a public school and were trained in all forms of music, dance, martial arts and cooking. But, have you ever seen a man be killed at your own feet after begging for your forgiveness? An unlikely sight for a 12 year old, but something that became a regular occurrence for me. When you have seen so many gruesome and horrific persecutions, death becomes a word you grow to brush off. For these 17 years of my life, I was trained to become a ruthless leader like my own father. Never have I heard the word love come from my father's mouth, nor do I know what the word means. I did not choose to become the upcoming Kaapa, the life chose me. If I could choose anyone in the country to do this job for me, I would do it in a heartbeat. All girls look up to the Kaapa and dream to be her. But no one knows what goes on beyond the estate's walls and if you did, you would not dream to take this position. I am the unfortunate soul who is forced to take the role, but I am devising a plan to take down the society. To once and for all bring happiness and peace to the United Union of the Americas.

This is my act of defiance.

Welcome to the first chapter of Defiance! I know it's really short, but this was just an introduction chapter and the chapters after this will be pretty long. I am so excited to be writing this, this is my first science fiction book! I think you are going to love this book, I already love it and this is only the first chapter!
