The Men
Chrystia
I sat in my study, working to the sound of my clock ticking. I reread all the taxes and unimportant issues of the citizens. Who cares if your neighbor's grass is too long? I have more important things to worry about than the ludicrous idea of problems that our citizens have. Looking at the time I realize that the 12 men will be arriving to the estate soon. I groan in agony. How can my father bring 12 men that we do not know to our house? They could be mass murderers or sexual offenders! What I do know is that I'm determined to not get married. I cannot be a successful leader with a man by my side. Anyways, if I don't get married, I will become the first female Alpha. If I become the Alpha, I can slowly change the system without having to resort to my backup plan. No goody two shoes, father pleaser is going to want to go through with my plan.
"Chrystia! The men are here, please come down!" My mother beckons me. I groan and slip into one of my nicest gowns. Why my mother wants me to wear a beautiful dress just to impress some hormonal teenage boys, I do not know. I scurry downstairs to meet 12 very attractive men. Looking from left to right, I see men of different ethnicities, races and hairstyles.
"Hello mother and father. Boys." I glare as I say the last word causing a visible shudder. I hear a murmur of hellos and turn to stand in the middle of my mom and dad. I acknowledge them by nodding my head and they nod back to me. "Now, boys, this will not be an easy competition. Every two weeks I will eliminate two unfortunate souls. At the end of the competition, there will be two boys in which I will choose one to be my husband. But, if at the end of the competition, none of you impress me, then I will not choose a husband from you. Tonight, two men will be eliminated based on the first impressions and first dates that you pick. May all the luck be given to the 12 of you and may the best man win." I stepped back as I saw many of the men gawk at my words. Many were not expecting a elimination on the first day, and did a once over of me after my speech. My father began ranting about the rules and regulations and how I should be treated. My eyes zeroed in on one very intriguing man. His long brown hair that was styled in a sexy fashion only led me in more. He looked like he was holding a secret, something deep and dark.
In my mind, I smacked myself upside the head. I can't fall in love! My plan simply won't work if I sat back, smirking at all the young men. Some of them scoffed, while others just smiled at me. I noticed the mysterious brown haired angel, not angel...I mean man, just looked into the distance. My thoughts were interrupted by the clapping of my mother's hands.
"Okay darlings! Line up for first impressions with the princess! She will take the first in the line into the family room and you will have a quick chat." I made an inaudible noise of annoyance and quickly stood up. A blonde boy with hair close to mine followed me.
"Hi! I'm William, William Macksworth." He chirped. I rolled my eyes and put my hand to his.
"Chrystia Brookwood." He toke my hand and kissed it, I gagged while his spit sprayed all over my hand. He met my eyes once again, his bright blue pearls glimmering with pride.
"You are absolutely gorgeous Chrystia. Like a shining jewel in the darkness of the new moon. I am absolutely delighted to be meeting you." I blushed to myself but coughed to cover it.
"The pleasure is all mines William. You seem like a very nice young man. You may return to the main room." He smiled at me before waltzing out the door. I will have to not eliminate him today; he made a well enough first impression to be remembered. Suddenly, the Greek god, I mean young man, that's what I meant, walked through the door. He looked down at his feet before meeting my eyes again. He shined his pearl white teeth at me and toke my hand.
