As Daisy tended to the man, Joel and Pierce set up barbed wire along the brick wall. They tried to keep quiet as they did so they didn't draw too much attention to themselves. They had extra barbed wire so they set traps just outside the fence in case they were making too much noise and found themselves surrounded. Soon the day was over and the two men came back inside.
At this point, Hunter appeared to be stable. He even seemed calm. This was a good sign. Pierce sat down next to Hunter and stayed there for the rest of the night. Eventually falling asleep.
Daisy pulled Joel outside to discuss something that was worrying her, " We can move the couches into the spare room and use that as an infirmary. We can store the meds in the closet but we're gonna need something more than band-aids if we get hurt badly. "
Joel sighed, "Yeah. I will do a supply run first thing in the morning with Pierce. You know how to dress wounds?"
Daisy sighed, "It seems like a whole other life. I used to be an assistant vet. I liked making animals feeling better but I hated putting them down. I suppose that's why I quit, to the dismay of my mother who spent so much money to put me through schooling."
Joel responded, "Hey that's better than any of the rest of us probably. It'll save lives. Is there a medical center or a vet clinic near for supplies?"
Daisy had to think for a moment, "I think there's a walk-in clinic a couple blocks away. But it may already be looted."
Joel shrugged, "Better than nothing. I might bring my hiking backpacks for some extra storage. Maybe we can find some books too to fix problems faster."
Daisy sighed, "We can only hope. Anyways that's all I wanted to say. I'll start setting up the infirmary tomorrow before you leave."
Joel smiled, "Sounds like a plan. I hope Pierce can hold himself in battle."
