Who knew the one thing everyone kept saying was my biggest mistake would turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to me?

Chapter 1: Niallynn Grace

Annabelle’s P.O.V.

I hear crying.

“It’s a girl!” someone yells from the other side of the small curtain.

“I w-want to see her,” I look up at my cousin. She has the biggest smile on her face. Looking down at me, I can see her eyes are red from crying. Just a few red curls are popping out around the light blue cap she was told she had to wear along with a matching gown. I smile as I remember her telling me she can ‘rock’ an outfit as ugly as this when she first put it on.

She walks out of my view, squeezing my hand before she goes. Just a few seconds later I can see her again, but she’s holding a baby.

My baby.

This still doesn’t seem real. But, as she walks the baby over to where I am, reality hits me. I’m a mother now. And that’s my baby girl.

“Look at her, Belle. Isn’t she perfect?” Olivia holds my baby’s head next to mine.

She’s still a little messy, skin a pinkish-purple color. Eyes squeezed shut and small hands slowly moving around. But, yes. She’s perfect. I turn my head slightly to give her a small kiss on the cheek. This is the most amazing feeling ever. I run my hand over her head. She has thick, dark hair, just like me. Just seeing her and knowing she’s mine makes me the happiest person on earth.

A young female nurse walks over, gives me a small smile, and reaches for my baby. Olivia hands her over as gently as possible. From where I am still lying on the operating table, I can see my baby being cleaned up.

Olivia squeezes my hand again. I didn’t even realize I grabbed her hand as I was watching the nurses with my baby. I look up at her.

“They’re almost done. We’ll be out of the creepy room soon,” she says looking over the small curtain separating my head and my tummy. They said a caesarian was the safest way to go. I didn’t hesitate telling them to do what they had to do to keep the baby safe. Now that I know my baby is safe, I can relax.

--

“Should we wake her up?”

“No, she needs to rest. Today has been a long day.”

“What should we do about Hunter? What do I tell him?”

“You tell him he’s not seeing the baby until Annabelle wakes up and says he can.” I hear someone walk away.

“Or ever,” I mumble opening my eyes but quickly closing them. It’s too bright. I slowly start blinking, trying to get use to the bright lights in this white room.

“Annabelle, how are you feeling?” I feel a cold hand grasp one of mine. I roll my head to the left and see my mom.

“Hey, mom. I’m fine, just a little sore,” I try to sit up. The pain was worse than I thought. Wincing, I quickly give up and lay back down.

“Don’t strain yourself, sweetie. I’ll go tell someone at the desk you’re awake,” my mom says tucking a few strands of hair behind my ear. She gives me a quick kiss on the forehead and turns to leave.

I glance around the room. It’s still extremely bright. Flowers were placed here and there. I wonder who they’re from... Different machines around me and an IV in my right wrist. The only noise I can really hear is the beep, beep, beep coming from one of the machines and the quiet chatter outside the room.
