Chapter 3: "We're Not Sleeping Tonight..."

Hermione's P.O.V

I am sitting up in bed reading 'Hogwarts a History', I know I've read it before,but I'm staying the night at Ginnys' and they have no books I haven't read. Ron and I are in the spare room,next door to a very heated discussion in Harry and Ginny's bedroom.Katniss is sleeping at the far end of the hall,under lock and key (Ginny does NOT trust her!)

"We have to collect Lily and Hugo from your Bills in the morning." I say, I'm not sure Ron hears me,he's in the ensuite shaving.

He finishes up and comes into the room.

"They're still at it." He states blankly.

I roll my eyes, "Harry and Ginny?".

"Yeah," He pause for a minute and I hear Ginnys' muffled voice something along the lines of 'Harry! she is too young for you! I saw the way you were looking at her' and then the faint defensive reply of 'Ginny....'

I glance at Ron who despite it being a serious conversation involving his sister and our best friend is chuckling. "We're so not sleeping tonight" he laughs.

I snort,  

"Ron this is a serious issue,it's as though that girl-Katniss is deliberately stirring it up."

"Well she is good looking.....I mean those cheekbones,the six pack,her bu-"

"-Ron Weasley! There is already one man in the family in the dog house,do you want another?" I ask lifting my eyebrow.

He grins,  

"You know I wouldn't leave you for a seventeen year old!".

"Do you really think Harry is serious or that he just is being a jerk? Gosh Ron,seventeen that's the same age as Victoire Weasley,Bill and Fleurs' daughter!" I say in a shocked tone.Harry can't be serious he just can't.

"I dunno......men can be stupid,and if I was Harry I might get tired of Ginny.....want a bit more......"

"Yes men can be stupid,which is why Ronald Weasley,you are sleeping on the couch tonight!" I yell at him,Ginny and I are like sisters,you do not insult Hermione Grangers sister...EVER!!!

I hear the sound of the bedroom door next to me slamming, a shout from Ginny,and the sound of Harrys' footsteps.

I climb out of bed and go to my door,Harry is standing outside my door puppy dog eyes galore.

"Well I suppose you can join Ron downstairs," I sniff.

Harry raises an eyebrow 

" 'mione!" he protests.

"No Harry, I don't approve of how you are acting around that girl, she's barely older than your niece! But you are my friend,so here" I say,I flick my wand and light a fire in a small jar. "The fire's gone out you'll need some heat." I hand it to him without a smile and close the door.

But I watch through the keyhole,I'm not sure Harry won't be tempted to call into Katniss..........

I wait untill he is downstairs.Then I go into Ginny's room.

"Hey Ginny," I smile comfortingly.

She doesn't answer,she is under the covers,her back to me,but from what I can make out she is shaking every so often, clearly softly crying. I don't know what to do. I feel dreadfully sorry for her; her husband looking inappropriately at younger girls. 

"Sorry 'Mione," Ginny says trying to cover up her tears. I sit beside her on the bed as she finally comes out of her cover-den. 

"It's okay Ginny! honestly" I pull Ginny up and have her head rest on my shoulder.Her face is blotchy from crying,her eyelashes have tears stuck to them.Her long red hair is glistening with teardrops.

"D-D-does Harry r-r-really like her?" Ginny cries.

"No, don't be stupid!Harry is jus makink eyes because Harry,like the entire male species is an idiot!" I say.

"But Hermione......Harry promised he would stay with me forever" Ginny sniffs "Ron stays with you"

"Right now Ron is on the couch downstairs with Harry,Ron is far from perfect Ginny!" I scoff.

Ginny still doesn't look happy.

"Look if this whole Katniss thing is bothering you, we can ask her to leave."

"Thanks Hermione. But don't kick her out, let me explain things to her first."  

Ginny tells me. I nod, stand up and depart from her room. At least Ginny's alright for the moment, I can't be sure about tomorrow. One thing's certain though...tomorrow there will be a LOT of explaining to do. And not just to Katniss. I walk back to my room, making sure no one is near Katniss' room and climb into bed-with him gone I have the whole bed to myself.It is very peaceful-Ron tends to take up a lot of space in bed.Not to mention his snores! 

"Goodnight!" I hear the boys shout from below. I grin. 

This has been a hell long day.....
