A few hours pass and I look over at Kelly, seeing she is as bored as I am.
" So uh what do you want to do?"
I see Kelly jump off of the couch and face me.
" Let's hang out on your back porch! We haven't been there in awhile!"
She says it likes it a big deal. The back porch touches the ground and is made of some type of wood. The white paint is for the most part chipped away and the wood seems to be decaying, it's really old.
" Uh yeah sure lets do it."
We walk outside onto the porch and just sit on some lawn chairs. The leaves are turning colors now which means it's turning fall, soon I have to start my online school again. Kelly and I talk outside for about an hour, mostly about school.
" Hey Kelly want a drink?"
She nods.
" I am feeling kind of thirsty, thanks Jamie." She smiles, a true smile. I get up and stretch my back, thankful to finally get up. I walk toward the door then bam, I'm on the floor. My shoes laces are caught in a nail sticking up out of the wood. I laugh and start to get up when I notice something faintly glowing under a piece of wood that is sticking up. I get up and start trying to pull up the wood plank on my porch. Kelly runs in and grabs the hammer, and starts taking the nails out quickly. She doesn't ask what I saw, but I think she already has a clue. Once the last nail is out I lift up the plank.
And that's when I see it.
I can't believe my eyes. Laying in front of me is a glowing map, the one that needed to be hidden. I grab the map carefully, making sure not to crease the edges. I smile at Kelly but she just stares at the map. Her face goes pale and she starts to look nauseous.
" You okay there?"
I ask grabbing her hand. She responds by pulling away from my hand and walking toward the door to go back inside.
" Yeah you're right Kelly we should study this right away."
We head up to my room and start to study the map. After about thirty minutes she gets bored and goes to watch tv. The map has symbols and shapes, nothing else. I look at that map for hours, I can feel that I am missing something. This map is to important for it to be this basic! Hours pass and I just sit at the desk staring at the map. It's not until late at night I remember Kelly. I abandon the desk and go to my parents room where she lays. Once I know she's fine I run back to my desk to continue studying the map. I'm up all night staring at that map. Alone in the dark I sit at my desk, the map in laying down, sticky notes surround it. I looks around getting the feeling I'm being watched by someone. I look around but I don't see anyone, maybe I'm just dreaming it?
