Goodbye And Hello

The leaves dance as my parents drive away from the house. I watch as the car disappears in the distance. I get up from the spot where I sit on the steps. " Guess it's just me and you for the few months." I say to the house as I've done many times before. I go inside the house and head for the couch. I sit and watch the clock tick away.
Five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes. A ringing noise distracts my thoughts and I check my phone. " Oh hey Kelly what's up." " Hey can I come over? I'm really bored." Kelly asks. I look at the clock again. Perfect time not to early, not to late. " Haha yeah see you here." I say as I hang up. I play with my thumbs until I hear her knock on the door. " Hey." I say as I open the door. " Hey you." She says walking into the house. Kelly throws herself onto the couch. " Yo Jamie I just had the best idea." Kelly bolts upright. " Let's play tag." I laugh and walk toward the couch. " I'm way to fast for you , how about hide and seek. You can count okay bye." I say while running upstairs. " THAT'S NOT FAIR YOU LIVE HERE." I hear Kelly yell back before she counts. I look around upstairs. Where to hide, where to hide. I run into my parents room and search in their messy walk in closet. I see many obvious choices but as I look behind a dresser I see a chest I can squeeze into. I close the closet door just as I hear her yell ' ready or not '. I squeeze myself into the chest closing the lid. I count how long it takes. One second becomes ten minutes, then an hour. I hear nothing outside of the closet. How long does it take? I quietly climb out of the chest into the dark closet. I feel around for the door. When I don't find it I go back to the chest. But I don't feel it. I don't feel anything. " LET ME OUT. " I scream into the blackness.
I feel something touch my hand. I open my eyes and see Kelly staring at me. I'm confused but then I realize I was dreaming. It was only a dream. " How did you do that?" Kelly asks in astonishment. " Go to sleep? Well first I close my ey-" " Not that idiot. You made the chest you were in float." I look at her with total confusion. " You're joking, right." I look at her but she shakes her head no. " Yeah it's getting late. I better be heading home."  Kelly says to fill the awkward silence between us. I help her up and lead her to the door. " See you tomorrow?" I ask. " Obviously." She laughs walking down the steps and toward the trail. As soon as I see her figure disappear I go back upstairs into the closet. I leave the light on and put the chest back behind the dresser. " Kelly got me good today." I laugh at myself and sigh.

I go to bed without dinner. I go to sleep and then wake up late in the night after another dream. I try to catch my breath. I turn my lamp on beside my bed and look at my room. Same as normal. I walk to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. " She probably thinks I'm crazy." " Yeah so would I buddy." I jerk my head around and see a pink ball of flames. " What even are you...?" It comes close to my face. " The real question is Jamie, do you even know what you are?" I look at the talking orb a grin. " I'm a Jamie, nice to meet you." I sneer. The orb starts to transform into a girl like figure. I start for the door but she blocks it. " I can show you what you really are." She floats over to me and forces me to look at myself in the mirror. " This won't hurt....me." She laughs and punches above both of my cheeks. I fall on the floor barely stopping my head from hitting the floor. I look up at her and frown. " Seriously what did the prove." I say between my teeth. " Let's just say you have forty forty vision." She said then vanished. I groan and grab my face. I get up and look in the mirror. " What diD sHE DO TO MY FACE!" I scream. All I see is bruises on my face making me look like a smurf. " Kelly can't see my face like this oh my god." I yawn forgetting I need sleep. I walk griping my face back to bed. I throw myself onto the bed and instantly fall asleep.
