Chapter Two: It Remains A Mystery To Me
“Shhh, quietly fix the door, then bolt it so they don’t come back in.” I heard although I still seemed to be unconscious, six feet under. My face felt moist but other than that my whole body felt numb, I couldn’t feel the pain anymore, just numbness. I strained my ears to see if I could recognize the voice but it ceased to talk. Eyes waiting to peel open, to see who this person was. After finally gathering enough energy to lift up my eyelids, I couldn’t see well, the world seemed to be spinning. It finally came to a staunch so I could see straight.
I was greeted with those vibrant green eyes hovering over me. I let out a little squeal before calming down, I didn’t want to wake Miranda and her ‘friend’. I had no door this time so I would be left defenseless. I turned my head to the door and peered over at it. It was back in the doorway, where it belonged. There were what looked to be multiple locks all over the door, all locked. This suggested that someone had fixed it while I was out and it sure wasn’t Miranda. It wasn’t the boy either because he had been to talking to the person who was fixing it. Wait hold the horses, how did he get into my room.
“How did you get up here!” I whisper shouted at the owner of those green eyes. He didn’t answer me.
“Just calm down and lay back down. You’re still weak, you need to rest.” His voice soothed me a bit but I was still curious. He gently pushed me back onto the bed and then continued wiping my face with a damp cloth. That was the moisture I felt on my face.
“Who are you?” I decided that was the most important question. He just shook his head, debating on what to say.
“Ah, a family friend I guess you could call me.” He chuckled slightly as if it was unbelievable, which it was.
“I don’t have any family, how would you know them?” I spat out.
“Slow down, take it easy. I uh have known your family for a while, now let’s leave it at that. You need to rest, get back to sleep. I will make sure you stay safe, I’ll protect you.” He whispered the last part so it was barely audible. Then he pulled out a pan flute from his belt. A ballot was played first, going up and down in range. Then he started to play a real tune. The beautiful melody filled the room and my ears, instantly having a calming effect on me. Soon after I had drifted back into sleep.

I opened my eyes only to be greeted by the sight of my ceiling. I looked over at the clock, 10:15 am. Good thing it was saturday. When I started to stir I felt little aches and pains, this seemed to jump my memory. Who came to me? I peeked over at the door, ten different locks and they were all bolted. I could hear two people from a few rooms over, Miranda and that bastard. I wished I had sound proof walls most days so I wouldn’t be able to hear Miranda and whatever guy was with her.
Well at least they were occupied now and wouldn’t hurt me. Well they couldn’t get in anyway thanks to my now many locks. I trudged over to the door so I could scrutinize the hasps on the door. I counted each one in my head and came out with a total of twelve. All twelve were bolted to provide plenty of protection. It should keep me safe for a while, I gathered. How was the door fixed? I still didn’t know.
Was it that little light that had healed my arm, that would make sense since it had been with the green eyed boy. That was what I called him. I still did not know his name or what he looks like. It was always too dark to see his features, his eyes were the only things I could see in the darkness that we always met in. I hoped I would learn his name soon because he had saved me, if we ever met again I wouldn’t be able to thank him properly. He said he would keep me safe and protect me, how? How did he ever find me and heal me? Why would he want to? I needed answers and soon.
