Chapter Six Part one

 Heather’s P.O.V.

Laughter filled my ears and smoke filled my nose. Such a weird combination. Peeling my eyes open, I looked toward the threshold of Peter’s room to find the source. As I sat up I noticed a wooden cup and a plate containing some sort of meat, at that moment my stomach told me what to do, so I ate. I was too hungry to even wonder what the mystery meat was, all I knew was that I’d never had it.

Finishing my last sip of water, I decided to see what the boys were up to. As soon as I went through the curtain I was hit with a stronger scent of smoke mixed with burning meat. I turned to my left, looking down the short corridor to see a bright light. The fire guided me right to them.

As I peeked around the corner I noticed some of the boys eating while others jumped around laughing with each other. Over in the corner of the room sat Peter, alone on a tree stump. Rounding the corner, I caught Peter’s eye and he smiled. I weaved through the boys, most of which were oblivious though Tootles did smile brightly at me. Peter stood up as I neared him.

“Did you eat the food I left for you?” He asked.

“Yes, thank you. Do I want to know what kind of meat it was?” a smile crept onto my face as I answered.

“Probably not,” Peter gave a sheepish grin. “Did you, maybe, want to go for a walk?”

“Sure, where to?” I honestly wanted to go, though the smoky air may have had a slight influence on my decision.

“Maybe we can walk on the shore or something.” And with that he lead me to the ladder that came out a couple yards away from the main tree. Once I was up the rungs and had walked a few paces away, Peter shut the trap door. He then took the lead again, through the forest that I would most likely always get lost in.

“So when did you get away from Hook?” He asked, looking over at me as we walked among the trees.

“He didn’t even get me on the ship,” I giggled a bit at this before going on to tell him about my little adventure. “I dove into the water when they weren’t looking and then-”

“Then Nerissa helped you escape,” he paused to look at me and I nodded. He must have spoken to them, but when? He must of seen my puzzled look for he answered my question, “I found you with the mermaids, they told me some of the things that happened.” Hopefully not everything, I thought. That was going to take some getting used to, having someone else’s existence ride on my own in a way. No more trying to die I guess, then again I think I may be getting over that in a way. Now I have something to live for; Peter, the lost boys, Neverland.

“Did he hurt you- Hook or any of his crew?” Peter broke me out of my thoughts. Taking a seat on a rather large boulder in our path, I began to answer.

“Not really, there wasn’t much time for him to. He kicked me once or twice, but that’s all, I think.” When I stole a look at Peter I could see that he was seething.

“I’m gonna kill that bast-”

“Peter, I’m fine.” The anger that had appeared on his face softened as I laid my hand on his forearm in reassurance. “I’ve taken hits much worse than that.” Between the bruises from Derek, Miranda, and now Hook, I ought to have been black and blue all over by morning.

“Well not anymore, no one’s gonna lay a hand on you from now on.” He answered, staring straight ahead with a somewhat distant gaze. Standing up, I followed Peter as we continued on our walk. The woods started clearing, and the reflection of the moon on the water came into view. I looked up in wonder, the sky was littered with stars and a bright moon. The night sky seemed so light and full of life, much like Neverland in a way.

“It’s beautiful, you are so lucky you get to see this every night.” I focused back on Peter who was about to say something.

“You know, you could see this every night too if you want.” He stared at the water for a minute before looking into my eyes. What was I supposed to say to this? He’s asking me to stay on Neverland. I mean I know what will happen if I leave but I didn’t really think how permanent staying here would be. I wasn’t even sure Peter wanted me here, until now I guess. What was there left for me back at home, if you could even call it that. A beating from Miranda? Mockery from the other students at school? Sure there was the coffee shop, but maybe Peter would let me visit them. After weighing the options I made up my mind.

“Then I guess I’ll be seeing this view a lot more often then!” I grinned at Peter, one that he returned before squeezing me to death. Hugging him back, I was reminded of what had happened earlier. What had that kiss meant? Maybe he was just worried and so he did that for some reason, just another thing to think about. I kept my arms around his neck until he let go of me, which took much longer than I expected. Not that I didn’t enjoy it.

“So you’re really staying?” Peter asked as he pulled out of the hug. He lightly held my hands in between us, which felt really nice.

“Yeah, as long as that’s okay with you, King of Neverland.” I smirked a bit at the title I gave him, though knowing him he was going to take advantage of this.

“On one condition, you be the Queen of Neverland.” Heat filled my cheeks at his offer. Never had I felt so wanted since my parents disappeared, then again it wasn’t that hard to compete with the compassion that Miranda had shown me. Peter had saved me so many times and that can make you like someone just a bit. A worried look crossed onto Peter’s face as it must have been taking me a while to answer. I rushed to answer but was at a loss of words, so there was only one other way.

I let go of Peter’s hands and placed my hands on his shoulders, pulling myself up the slightest to reach his mouth. And then I kissed him gently on the lips. His arms almost immediately wrapped around my lower back in an embrace. The kiss was short and sweet, but you couldn’t expect anything more for a second kiss. When I opened my eyes I was met with the bright and smiling eyes of Peter; he had a big, goofy grin on his face.

“So I’ll take that as a yes.” He said, leaning in and stealing a peck.

“Hmm, nope!” I played, giggling a little, if that’s what you would like to call it. All this while we stayed in the awkward embrace, which was surprisingly comfortable.

“Sure, now come on. We should get back and tell the boys the good new!” Peter released me before grabbing hold of my hand and practically dragging me back to the house, or whatever it is. Seeing him so giddy and child like told me that I made the right decision.

Please no one hate me, I've had a busy and stressful year with lot's of writer's block but hopefully I am getting back into the habit. So I usually do longer chapters but I figured I should upload sooner than later. Yeah. Sorry if I am bad at writing fluff. :)

I'll try to et the next chapter up soon but I'll see how that goes because during break I have a research paper to work on. Ew. But I apologize again and hope to upload soon.
