A Suicide Without Reason

A usually jovial presence,

now is dejected,

over someone's guilty pleasance,

a pleasance that rejected,

his heart heartlessly,
yet he still has a drive for fumes,
to consume mindlessly,
and to be consumed.

A drive that had surpassed,
the fear of himself,
his life encompassed,
in a twenty stick pack on his shelf.

For him it's all smiles,
a cheap escape,
all lies,
vitality as a cost he pays.

A usually jovial presence,

now feels treason,

for he is now a witness,

of suicide without a reason.

Note: Our unit head is a very kind and jovial doctor. This particular case of a man and one could see a sort of disappointment coupled with guilt/sadness on his face. The patient had been smoking since a long time and had developed Myocardial Infarction as a consequence. He underwent a successful surgery. On the follow up, the man confessed that he is still smoking. A suicide without reason?

Thank you grapher, your poem helped me initiate this thought. A kind dedication to you as well. :)
