Cold, lay still,
lifeless on stainless steel,
for life's last breath was not tranquil,
born from a fatal ordeal.Once surrounded by kin,
now tools abound her physical form,
measurably incised is her skin,
parted organs examined; the autopsy norm.A life once invaluable,
now is reported in documents,
a moment of calamity, one's life disabled,
infinite moments of grief and lament.Note: Autopsy, as one might expect is not a pleasant sight by any means, especially the first one. The foul odors that accompany dissections range from nauseating to extremely irritating which might lead to one fainting in the miasma. The procedure is measured and precise, mechanical and almost an automation for one who has performed it innumerable times. As students, we cannot help but observe and reflect over the cause of a person's death. From rapes of pregnant women to horrific road traffic accidents, the list through which human tragedy manifests seems endless. The woman whom I've written about supposedly committed suicide by hanging herself.
