Sadie's birthday was in May, and coming up fast. Lars didn't have any plans. I mean what would he even do? Like he didn't know what kind of shit Sadie was into.. I mean who knew? She barely talked about her personal life, and when she did it was about her "annoying mom." I mean, Lars couldn't really judge her, he didn't know anything about her life at home. Hers was probably not as fucked as his, but ya know, it's different for everyone. Lar's mom had left home when he was 3, after being hit by his dad. It was all he could remember from those years as a kid, other than playing with Sadie. Pretty depressing, I know. Lars' dad wasn't abusive to him physically, but was manipulative and emotionally abusive a lot. Lars guessed that was where he received his manipulative trait. Lars' dad went through a lot of shit too, but he never talked about it. Manipulation must be a family trait.
As Lars crossed the street, he heard the familiar sound of Jenny's pizza delivery truck turning round the corner. It was a bit old, so made strange and unsafe sounds when turning corners. Lars attempted to hide himself in his jacket hood, but was caught off guard when he heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, wait up!" Sadie rushed up to him, baring her usual smile. "Hey, Lars!"
"Gahh, hi Sadie," Lars' mind fought to try and find out what to do, Jenny's car coming up fast. "Let's go Sadie, come on." Lars fast walked/jogged to the other side of the street, ignoring the honking of Mayor Dewees' mayor-mobile. He was really trying to not be rude this evening, he really was.
"LARS!!!! That's not fair!!! I haven't even played this game before."
"Jeez, Sadie. Wanna go on baby mode?"
"Arghh!! you asshole." Sadie scrunched her face up, pressing down hard on the controls.
"Just a joke! Just a joke. I'll put you on beginner, ok?" Lars raised his hands up as if surrendering, and laughed.
"No, this-urhg- game is a piece of cake," Sadie continued to scrunch her face up, and then her face lit up with a giant smile. "Hah! I beat you! SEE!"
"Just.. Beginner's luck." Lars rubbed the back of his neck, scrunching his brows."Again!! Did you see that!! HAH!"
"Jeez, Sadie! Go easy on me!" Lars gave her a tired smile, and then continued to concentrate on the game, taking another sip of some energy drink.
"Hey, Lars, it's getting late, I gotta go..."
"Uh, yeah. Go ahead. I'll seeya tomorrow?" Sadie didn't respond, and instead gave a small smile.
(Again, not edited so don't kill me!)
