A/N my friend called me cruel after this so um read at your own risk!!
They hadn't seen each other in weeks, maybe months. The boy went to the place where they first met, underneath the third cherry blossom tree to the left, a few meters away from the entrance of Block C in the park. He made sure to remember every single detail of the place where they met.
He went there everyday hoping each time that she would be there, sitting under the tree, smiling at him and asking what's taking him so long.
He waited.
She didn't come.
He called.
She didn't answer.
He visited.
She wasn't there.
He kept waiting and didn't stop but each time he went there he already knew that she wouldn't be there, even if he knew that, he didn't stop going.
One day after visiting the park, yet again, he decided to take a different route home, just for a change of scenery. By the time he got out of the park the sun was already setting. He waited a lot longer than he usually did.
As he was walking home, very slowly, he passed by a cemetery which looked familiar but he didn't quite remember. Seeing as he had nothing to do and arriving home would take long at the pace he was walking at, he entered the cemetery. (A/N don't judge, some people like going to the cemetery just because)
He started from the tombstone right in front of the gate and read the name of the person and why did he die.
It said Beckendorf, Charles. Such a familiar name, he thought to himself. Below that something was scratched out and was illegible. Then it said why he died.
He was on the Princess Andromeda, the private ship, when it exploded. He heard about that on the news and found out that someone hid a bomb in the ship which was the cause of the explosion.
But he felt like that wasn't all that happened, he felt like they were hiding something, he knew they were hiding something. He moved on to the others. Nakamura, Ethan. Castellan, Luke. Di Angelo, Bianca. Beauregard, Silena. Each of them had different reasons why they died.
When he read Silena's tombstone he was shocked to say the least. She was the girlfriend of that Charles Beckendorf person and it said that she died in a car crash. Again, he got the feeling that there was more to her death than the tombstone was letting on and all of the people he just read sounded extremely familiar but he just couldn't remember.
He realized something that was on all the tombstones that he just read. The places underneath their names were scratched out. As he looked at the next one he realized that what was scratched out were the dates for when they died. Weird he thought. As he kept on going he realized that it was getting too late and his parents were going to scold him if he arrived home late.
He quickly sped through the last one, only reading the name and turned to leave until he realized what he just read.
Her name.
He slowly faced the tombstone again but not looking at it yet. He was shaking. No he thought, It can't be her. She told me she would come back, she promised she would come back. It's probably someone else. He thought as he looked down on the tombstone.
It was her.
Her full name even the secret middle name was there, only her parents and he knew it, no one else.
Tears started falling from his eyes rapidly as he held his hand over his mouth, holding back screams. No, she's not dead! She can't be dead! She said she was coming back, she promised... He stopped himself from crying any further, his tears clearly seen on her tombstone in the moonlight.
He dropped to his knees and looked at the tombstone again, he covered the date she died on with his hand, he didn't want to know that yet.
He wiped his eyes enough so he could see clearly as he read why she died and when he did, he didn't stop the tears from flowing this time.
She died,
Of Leukemia.
Diagnosed of leukemia at the age of 12 on July 24th 2009, she tried to live life as a normal person but it was hard for her and was often found in the park sitting under a tree, crying, until she met a person, a boy of the same age, under that same tree.
From then on, she got happier and looked at the brighter side of life. Sadly, on August 4th 2011 she got confined in the hospital, the doctor stating that her leukemia got worse and that she wasn't going to be able to live for long.
She soon died on the same month. Having no funeral. That was her dying wish.
Her last words were for that boy that she met and befriended. To him she says, "Thank you...and...I'm sorry I died on this special day".
That boy she met under the tree, Percy Jackson, thank you for giving her happiness in the last moments of her life.
And to Annabeth Chase,
You will be remembered forever
As he sobbed he removed his other hand from where he was covering the date she died.
August 18th 2011
