chapter 4: the attack part 1

  That night was the night Sonic had been waiting for a very long time, he had spent weeks of hard work planning it and finally, it was here. Sonic, Amy, Tails and Knuckles were standing in front of the fortress, behind a wall which went around the entire outside of the castle grounds. Slap bang in the middle of the wall was a gigantic gate; the only way of getting though was either flying over, or opening the gate and walking through.

 “I’ll handle this.” Amy said as she pulled out her hammer, jumped up and smashed down on the gate. The gate flew across the castle grounds right after it was ripped out of its hinges.

 “There.” Amy said smugly with her eyes closed and her hands on her hips.

  “Weird...” Knuckles drifted off. “So, it’s time for me to go now.”

  “Yes, but first put on this headset, you will be able to talk to us and we will hear what’s going on, and you will also hear us, so we can feed you information.” Tails gave Knuckles a headset.

  “Ok, I’d better get going!” Knuckles grinned.

About half an hour later Knuckles was nearly at Eggman, as Tails had predicted, it was pretty easy, but the battle wasn’t anywhere near finished. Sonic still had his part to play before Eggman could be defeated. Then Tails’ voice rung in Knuckles’ head:

 “Knuckles, the door is the big red one coming up.” Tails said. He was absolutely right though, Knuckles saw a big red door, he tore it open and knew what he had to do......

  “Sonic, now it’s your turn.” Knuckles whispered into Sonic’s headset.

  “Come on Amy and Tails, let’s go!” Sonic said to his teammates. They ran into the double doors and into the fortress.

“Knuckles, what a nice surprise, I’m getting tired of Sonic always trying to beat me, it’s good to see someone with actual power against me, although, Sonic isn’t here right?” Eggman asked Knuckles. This was a second or so after Knuckles entered the room and told Sonic it was his turn. The room Knuckles was in was Eggman’s control room; it was the place that controlled the whole fortress. The room was big with computers along one side, in the centre of the room was a big pillar kind of thing (presumably one of Eggman’s unfinished inventions) .

 “Answer me this Knuckles, if you have came here alone, then why the headset?” Eggman asked.

 “Vector is at home making sure I’m doing Ok.” Knuckles lied.

 “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Vector.” Eggman said. “Tell, him I’ve said hello.”

“Wait, you’re stalling aren’t you?” Knuckles asked

“No, why on Mobius would I do that?” Eggman answered as he pressed a button behind his back.
