Rachel POV
It's been a couple months here in New York and it's been great! Oh who am I kidding? I miss him, I miss him so much. But he broke my heart and I just can't bare to contact him. I'm so scared to know if he's doing better without me. Kurt walks in. He's the only one here who actually keeps contact. I decide
"Hey Kurt" I asks sitting in the dining room table
"What's wrong?" Kurt asks taking a seat
"How's your parents?" I ask
I'm such a wimp
"They're good but I think we both know who you really want to know about" Kurt says causing me to slowly face him
"He's doing fine Rachel, struggling but ok-ish" Kurt shares
Ok maybe he's not completely better off without me
"Thanks" I say below a whisper
At least he's managing his life
"Just call him Rachel" Kurt pleads
I look at him
"He left me remember?" I say
"I know you want too" Kurt says
I get up
"I'm not going to call him"
*later that night
Sorry, I'm not here right now, but leave a message!
That was the fifth time. He obviously just doesn't want to talk to me.

Back in Lima

Finn POV
It's been a long three months. I'm trying to give her her freedom, but every time Kurt calls, I just have to know how's shes doing. Kurt always tells me the same thing. Lonely. But I don't want to drag her down, he just doesn't understand.
*later that night
I'm sorry I called I won't call again, I just wanted to hear you again, silly I know, but I guess you just don't want to talk, I'm sorry
I hear her last message. It's like I'm getting stabbed in the heart fifty times.

Second year

"Hey Kurt!" Rachel says excited
"Rachel he's the same as yesterday, fine" Kurt sighs
All he ever has to do now a days is give reports on how someone's doing. It's exhausting.
"Is the glease play going good? Does he need help?" Rachel asks eagerly
"Yeah it's been great and he has all the help he needs" Kurt walks away

Lima

*over the phone
"Rachel's been doing better" Kurt says as soon as he sees his brother calling
"Oh that's good" Finn greets "is she getting better at busting tables?" Finn asks
"No not really, and if you let me work I'd be able to help her" Kurt nags
"Alright, alright, I get it, stay safe little bro I'll call you next week" Finn ends

Third year

The calls grew shorter and less frequent. Kurt got busy and started to get better at his vogue internship. Santana got three commercials done and started her own agency. Rachel started doing better and getting over Finn, slowly, very slowly. She's still struggling but she's so close to finishing college.
"Rachel I have some news" Kurt said wearing a worried expression
Rachel stopped cleaning the table and looked at her friend
"What?" She asked
"Finns dating Quinn" he said sad
"Oh" was all Rachel could manage
She slowly cleaned the table. She didn't show any emotion, but later that night she cried herself to sleep. She did this for the next four months.

Fourth year

Rachel stopped asking for daily updates on Finn. Kurt moved out and moved in with Blaine across. Santana stayed as they welcomed Mercedes into the apartment. A lot happened.
Like Kurt and Blaine got engaged and Blaine got hedwig in a Broadway show, Kurt became a permanent executive at vogue.com. Santana's agency became a success. Mercedes released two top single hits.
Everyone seemed to be doing good, except for Rachel. Or so she thought. She finished college and was still lost, she went and auditioned for elphaba in wicked and got rejected. But she went in for fanny in funny girl and got a callback. It was a major accomplishment and in even bigger one when she got the role! She was so excited but sad she had no love interest to congratulate her. In crept the craving for love and something to fill in the empty void in her heart that grew four years ago.

Five years

Finn went to college. Three years in he ran into Quinn. A year went by, but Finn felt nothing. He still wasn't over Rachel and he still kept asking how she was doing, even if his brother didn't live with her anymore. So right after he realized he still loved Rachel he broke up with Quinn. Now he has his bachelor degree and is ready to try and win Rachel back. His bubble soon bursts when he receives a life changing text from his brother
